how can someone write "...never read him. great work" >?
all my books have been packed in boxes for a few years...two bad moves in less than 3 yrs...& there are a few things i want to re-read again....like "letter to my father", & some of the very short stories. for some years, i kept reading biographies, until i finally read a really good one (some yrs ago now) & knew that i didnt have to keep looking anymore, for a good one. (too bad i cant tell yu which one it is...its in a box somewhere).
yes, a very interesting man....my good biography dispels so many of the myths that seem to be such common knowledge. he was very much a man of his time, (in some ways, ahead of his time) not nearly as strange, or as fucked up, as those myths shall have one believe.
& i always say: i am soooo glad that he died before seeing what hitler did to the jews, & to his beloved country. (he wrote in german, yu know, & considered himself to be more german than czech, or even jewish)
