The USS Nechayev, NCC-50101, a 25th Century Magee class redesign.

While the Nova class had been originally designed to serve as DS9's Defiant, they instead reworked an alternate Maquis Raider concept to serve as Starfleet's first on-screen escort. The Defiant never sat right with me, and a little more time and effort at a key moment in the past may have given us something like the Shran class here on screen.

Named after Admiral Alynna Nechayev, of ball-busting memory.
