Just in time, eh?

So here's my LoZ redesign for =Feri-san 's contest, of course

I drew Link in a parka and the design stuck. There ya go.

It's a blueier green than his tunic typically is; it looked colder that way. Quilted and fur-lined, for extra warmth. The hood is attached, but long and triangular and windsock-like, how Link's hat usually is. That Triforce design on his arm is on the other arm as well, and it's pretty much there just to make it more LoZ-y. But the design's repeated everywhere; on the Master Sword, on Zelda's scarf and crown, and it'd be on the shield if the shield design were visible. Which it isn't. Link can snowboard on that shield, by the way, just because that's cool. And the snowboarding mini-game in TP was fun, so why not? The Master Sword I didn't change much. It didn't need to be changed, really - just altered to match the design better.

Zelda's still got her basic pink-lavender-white color scheme, with a bit of blue and silver trim. She was fun to draw and design. The scarf should look familiar from this drawing. I like doing long, aprony-scarves like that, and it's similar to the aprony design thing that Zelda has on a lot of her canon incarnations. The designs are fairly meaningless and just there for show, except for the Triforce thing, which is significant because it's the Triforce. Her parka's longer than Link's, floor-length like a dress - she's got wider sleeves and a less-prominent hood. Her boots and gloves are slighter and more elegant. And she's got a shawl, princessy tiara, and ear muffs added to the ensemble. Her hairstyle is simple but was fun to do, even if I don't like those long strands of hair hanging down around her face.

The penguin is Link's sidekick. He's based on a few species that look similar to that, and I didn't reference one in particular, so it's not exactly either. The tufts on his head are relic, I think, of when I thought he was going to be a penguin version of Kaepora Gaebora. He was fun to do, too - simple, but fun. And no, I don't know what his name is. The King of Midnavitatlezlocielas, maybe.

Zelda logo is just a font with a snowflake with a Triforce in the middle under the Z. Icebound Hyrule was just what I wound up titling all my files, for lack of anything better, and it stuck. That font...is...I don't remember. And I made the main part of the logo look icy. Yay.

The background's a conglomeration of concept sketches. There's some redesigns of items and enemies, and Link and penguinsidekick doing somewhat interesting things, like ice fishing or canoeing or snowshieldboarding or Wolfossledding, which would be just an awesome way to travel. That's what this would have instead of Epona.

As for the story...I haven't thought very far. There's the penguin sidekick, he probably has some bearing on the plot; many sidekicks do. Hyrule is obviously a very cold place, and I think that has something to do with it, too. There's two Wizzrobes that've been popping up in these sketches, too, and I'm starting to wonder about them. I'll bet than Ganon has something to do with it all, though!! =O
