Balbaris and Lourde on a treasure hunt. Two characters who are less drawn at the moment.A while ago we made a ROR photoshooting and I was asked to draw an illustrated version of this piece: eninaj27.deviantart.com/art/Raβ¦
Today, almost 2 years later, I felt inspired to draw Balbaris because of watching the pirate series "Black Sails", then I remembered the photo and finally began to do it.

I love the composition, it looks like a screencap from a movie, and I also love the "obfuscate" looking of Lourde, it really captures the eye. I think I love the details in this scene, for example the untied ligature of Lourde's blouse and Balbaris' little hairlocks flowing in the air

Lourde gave me a hard time, I think his expression turned out a little different from what I wanted.Β He should look excited and a bit tired, but he really looks a bit confused with the pose of the hand. XD But he just try to tame his hair in the wind

I think Lourde's expression looks better here. He looks kind of fed up with this trip and tired while Balbaris is completely commited to his task. However the thing I really like about this is the light. It's perfect and that wrinkled paper looks very good too.Β

It was an interesting challenge to realize the same scene as a drawn picture. And I didn't have to search for pose refs!

Yes, it was a bit tricky. I didn't want it to look like a copy, so I made a quick sketch of the scene to use the ref as less as possible.
A fine man with Balbaris as his teacher? hehe. Here he's still half of a young noble in pirates clothes, but that's what he is turning to: fav.me/d8o7v34
