Description
Before the days of Photoshop (or at least in the days before I heard of such a program), I did tons of small bitmap-based pictures. True, I've posted such before on my DeviantArt gallery, but those were of decent sizes and interest. For all that miscellaneous crud however, I present the Fun With Bitmap series, which not only features these various pictures in collages, but also updated slightly for your viewing pleasure. And what better way to start this off then with some much demanded giant monster fan art!*********
At the top is good old Gamera, the giant flying turtle who is not as famous as Godzilla, but is an interesting beastie non-the-less. The picture here started as a scanned pencil sketch, but was covered over in bitmap, and is based on the giant turtle's flying form from 1996's "Gamera 2: Advent of Legion".
*********
Merudameruda is a gorgon-theme monster from the 1998-to-1999 Super Sentai series "Gingama", and was later renamed Maronda in the American version "Power Rangers Lost Galaxy". Despite the lovely interpretation I did, the original suit itself was pretty ugly and bulky, which clearly had a dude playing the female monster within. Thank goodness for re-designs!
*********
And finally, the one and only Zetton, the monster famous for defeating the original Ultraman in that 1966 series's final episode. Zetton has since popped up in multiple Ultra-sequels, most recently as a physical mental projection created by the Cerberus-like monster Galberos in 2009's "Ultra Galaxy NEO".

I particularly like your rendition of Zetton!

Thanks! I really should attempt a more tradition ink drawing of him soon, but of my older bitmap ones, it still holds up, as you somewhat pointed out.

Thanks a lot for that...and you also found some that even I neglected to mentioned, such as my BW Monster Montage. BTW, I will have more pin-ups coming soon, such as Scorpina, and December will be dedicated to the Kaiju Portraits, with several PR characters included.
And as a PR fan, which I don't meet often, I'd like to an idea or two pass you in the near future. Just to get another fan's opinion of course.
Well enough of my blabbing on, and thanks so much again for the favorites and comments!

Maybe you could do more Gormas? Like Skelerena/Hungry Wolf Demon Jin, Po Taoist/Party Crasher, Ikazuchi/Silverhorns, BeamCaster/FastTalkingPlayer, Four Combined Deva Kings/Fourhead Monster...Or you can pick some yourself of course.

I actually have Father Magnet on tap for a December Kaiju Portrait, and some pinups featuring Teacher Telephone, Lady Earring, Lady Necklace, Copy Empress / Photomare, and Lipstick Songtress on the back burner as well...
But if you can find some really good, large-sized visual references for the characters you just suggested, I'd be happy to at least do some sketches. Especially of Ikazuchi / Silverhorns, who is one of the best looking monsters from any Super Sentai entry (didn't like the whole 'Texan Cowboy Tick' in MMPR though).
And dose the idea of a Chip the Yellow Mystic Force Ranger and Itassis paring illustration sound unorthodox to you (to say the least)?

Love the Zetton, though i perfear King Joe Black to him in Ultra Galaxy. Seeing him there made me have to draw him which i just uploaded. Though i wish i didnt opt out for a gold color scheme though lol. Reminds me of Short Circuit 2

Less "Short Circuit 2" for me, then it is "Super Robot Red Baron"...but you'll read what I mean. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad to hear that I inspired you into doing King Joe, from my Zetton piece alone.

Thanks for the added info, bbb35!
I have some old art of Daitanix himself that I plan to upload later this week, anything you want to share about that monster before then?

Daitanix?
Well he was born from the contaminated Sun of Captain Zahaib and devoured his planet but Zahaib put his castle on the beast's back controling it.
The Evil energy from Daitanix attracts anyone with darkness or evil in their soul's. Most mercenaries or
outcast of their Galaxy's or planet.
Depending on their species or appearance, powers their paired up with one of the 4 Generals.
With Shelinda steering the go from galaxy to galaxy and plunder a planet till it's got nothing left. Daitanix devours the planet and the energy of the planet is used to extend the lives of the crew members.
After there are no more planets Daitanix eats the stars which turn into Star Jewels which Zahaib collected. When he had enough Bucrates made for him the Star Soul Brooch which replaced his heart making him immortal.
They were collecting more Star Jewel's so Shelinda could have a Soul Brooch.

Well Zetton for me has always been one of the most unique, if not awesome-looking daikaiju designs ever made, so much so that he stands out from any crowd: [link]
Okay, never mind, he kinds of disappears to that illustration...BUT the bitmap picture seen above is not only true to the design, but still holds up even compared to my more recent inked-scanned-photoshop stuff.
Thanks for the comment!

Sweet monsters all around. Gamera never gets enough love but he looks pretty awesome here. I don't recognize Merudameruda/Maronda, but then again it's been so long since I watched Lost Galaxy as a kid. As for Zetton, I've never seen him before, but he definately looks cool here.

Thanks man! As cool as Zetton is, youβre probably better off tracking down his more recent appearances, where he has longer screen time and does a lot more fighting, especially and the near-impossible to kill final opponent of βUltra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battleβ
I too agree Gamera needs more fans, and still disappointed that Cartoon Network and Daiei never went through with their plans for an animated spin-off series. Like Godzillaβs various television outings, it would have been a splendid opportunity for many new monsters, as well as the occasional returning foe.

Can "Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle" be found on Amazon.com? Also, would you advise I see the Ultraman series in order or does each series have its own separate continuity?
Personally, I'm surprised they've never done an anime series for Godzilla, Ultraman, or Gamera, so much potential

A lot of the Ultraman shows and movies are not available in America, due to a number of factors, but if you really want to see "Ultra Galaxy", I have the first season (13 episodes) with 'okay' subtitles, and can easily make a copy. The second season, dubbed "Ultra Galaxy NEO" I plan on get before March rolls around.
There's a heck of a lot of Ultraman, and many shows really don't have connections to one another, especially with stand alone fare like the original "Ultraseven", "Ultraman Towards the Future" and "Ultraman Gaia". So no problem in viewing any series, except maybe for "Ultraman Dyna" which is a direct sequel to "Ultraman Tiga" (minus the totally new cast / characters).
Unlike Godzilla's two American series, Ultraman has had one major anime series made in 1979 entitled "Ultraman Jonias" (AKA "The Ultraman") which lasted a good 49 episodes, along with several more kid friendly spin-offs, like "Ultraman Kids" and the surprisingly charming short "Ultraman M78: Love and Peace". There's also the 1987 television film "Ultraman: The Adventure Begins" which was co-produced with Hanna-Barbera, and was an attempt to bring Ultraman into the American market. Sadly, it didn't get picked up for full-blown series.
I have the 1987 film, along with "Love and Peace" and the first four episodes of "Jonias", which were dubbed and brought together as a straight-to-video movie called "Ultraman II". And because of the animated format, the monsters in them are quite awesome and free from the retrains of physical suits.
