Your signature says you want critisim... so... I'm going to do this one because it was on the front page and looked interesting.

Looks like a neat character! It's nice to see a wind element character that doesn't have a lot of silver color scheme, and I applaud you for taking a different step out there. It's neat. And you're doing traditional art! More applause. Now that you're doing traditional...

Lineart.

This is flaw number one. You can really make figure drawings like this pop out of the page, and it's with a tiny little thing to keep in mind, and that's line variance. I'm still learning to do this, and there's no rules on what lines should be thick or thin, but it sure adds depth when you add that variety. Myself, I tend to thicken away from the light source. I know you're not inking... it doesn't look like it, anyway... and with this drawing using the pencil looked good. You're making your lines all the same width, though. After you do your basic outline, go over it again with the pencil, picking out some lines to make thicker. Under the chin on one side is good, along one side of the arm, some of the leg... use your own judgement and experiment. Better yet, if you have the lineart from a drawing scanned in without color, print it back out and use that to play with instead. Less harm. Maybe add in eyelashes. You could definately add some alluring depth to her eyes. Play around with adding a bit more shadow.

And... just another hint, with crayon coloring? It's a patient thing. Try going over with more layers to make a smoother coloring job, use a bit of darker color to get in some shadows. You have some variety already, and it probably shows a lot better in real life (I know how finicky it can be to scan). Just keep adding depth. You want your pictures to seriously pop right out of the page, right? I mean, your poses are suggesting that you already have a pretty strong desire to get extreme images. You're not doing people just standing there with equal balance (like I used to do... cough), you've got variety in her stance and a twinkle to her expression. It shows character. With a bit of work on technique, you'll be really good at this type of art. Character design. As a side note, I'm really liking the way you're defining muscle. She looks like a bigger, stronger woman, but you still haven't made her masculine... she still feels nice and feminine. Good job.

Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to give a thorough criticism and I wish more people were like you. The line variation sounds intriguing and I'll definately look into that.

It's not crayon, it's prisma color and I did this one at two o clock in the morning sitting in a dimly lit room watching TMNT. But I wasn't so proud of her coloring that much as I was of Anti's or Cyris's. They're the other two that I did that night.

And it is my personal philosophy that no matter the element it has a true color, not gold or silver or black white or gray. So Teara is yellow which makes her awesome. And thanks for the strong feminine comment. That was what I was going for with her but I didn't know if I got it right, but I guess I did.

The problem is... there are other people like me. And a lot of people who aren't like you and go "ew, you're so mean!" when we try to be helpful. It's hard to judge. I try to give critiques whenever someone puts the "constructive critisicm encouraged" option...

I enjoy giving suggestions, anyway. I'd even suggest you experiment with other mediums in the traditional genre... playing with tracing paper and colored markers can be really fun. > Line variation IS intriguing. I'd point you to something that shows what I mean, but unfortunately I can't think of anything in my gallery immediately that's similar to your style. The last few pics I posted were just linework, but more complex stuff, so not a very good example for simple line varience. Just search for lineart... maybe run a few searches on DA... and you'll probably see that some of the most popular images have a lot of varience in line sizes and stuff. Or black and white graphic novel pages...

I think you'll get good at this. Keep playing around. I like the idea of taking a single color scheme. I tend to do something similar... but not quite the same... since my characters tend to have an "element" I try to work something into their appearance or personality that reflects this, and then work from there. I pick the color that works best for their personality and appearance and go crazy! Clothing design is fun. I don't do enough anymore. x_x XD

If you have any other pictures you'd like me to give a shot at critisizing, I can... I enjoy it. But it'd probably be similar comments, if most of your art is in this sort of style range. Keep drawing, that's all I can really offer as the best help ever. Make art. Make horrible art if you want. Some of it will turn out good and you can laugh at it later. Heehee.

Aye, my computer's slow, though. So browsing's difficult. Comic and fantasy universe sound interesting. Which user names would those be? I'm always interested in new art.

enstyledesign-WTWS (comic) and enstyledesign-EOAH (fantasy) but there's not much on the fantasy one, except for a few costume designs.
