Description
Cluttered, crowded pic of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, and several other recurring characters from the Mario universe.One thing that makes the Mario series better than the Sonic series(in my opinion, and besides controls, voices, and fun factor) is that it's enemies are still a big part of the series. Goombas appear in nearly every game(besides SMB2 and Super Mario Sunshine....that's it, I think), as do Koopa Troopas, Piranha Plants, Bullet Bills, etc. Shy Guys(my favorite!) have, since SMB2, become extremely talented, and in their second game, SMW2:YI, have now more than 20 different varieties, ranging from gourmets to flying gardeners. Then Sonic series always has new enemies in each installment(for the most part), and in recent games, there are only 6-8 different enemy types.
On the downside, Mario is rather undeveloped. Sure, we know he loves pasta, but that's about it. Oh, cake, too. Don't forget cake.

And actually, K. Rool isn't as much of a problem with Ridley. In Sluggers (which I have mentioned a whole lot), K. Rool wasn't that much bigger than DK. He's about Bowser's size, and he's got the same treatment they gave to Petey. He was a big guy, and he was easily downsized. Petey is now in Mario Karts and all kinds of the sports. It's not as big of a deal with Ridley, cause Ridley's size makes him Ridley from what I know. Petey was just shrunk down because he'd be functional being just a big guy. They added on the height for him in Brawl and that wasn't that important. Ridley would be 20x less threatening if he was DK's size.
Spike was a new weird addition, but obviously not good enough to be brought back. He's just like one of those giant purple Bob-ombs in Super Mario 64 (that threw you, I think he was a Chucka or something). a good enemy, but not really important. Waluigi, on the other hand, was a boss-ish enemy for the non-adventure games that Nintendo knew would make it big. The fact that Waluigi is around is because that a Wario-type character to let the people play as would be good. Spike wasn't that good if he isn't still around. Chief Chilly isn't around because he's like Spike. Not important. Petey, on the other hand, has reappeared because Nintendo thought that he was a big enough guy that he'd come back and people'd like him.
And when you say that the story mode isn't anything like an adventure, I still think you're wrong. It isn't a adventure, but it is similar (check out the last one I posted). Spike is similar to the little adventure mode. He is a small pointless little thing bent on pleasing the adventure side of Mario fans. When you that the Adventure mode is pointless, you might as weel have been saying Spike is pointless.

Samus is pretty bad in the SSB games.
I'm only judging K. Rool's size based on DKC and DK64, in which he's around 2 and 4 times(at least) DK's size, respectively. Since size is mostly relative(Pokemon characters ignore it the most) in SSB, having a character even 1.5 times DK's size would be too much, and making K. Rool Bowser's size would only make it more apparent how much of a Bowser knock-off he seems to be. On top of it, he looks a great deal like Wart in his commonly accepted king outfit. I suppose I'm not being too fair, though having two fat-ass, stomping, royal reptiles seems excessive, especially when one of them is so much more IMPORTANT(If your qualm about Spike can apply to Waluigi, Bowser trumps K. Rool in droves concerning importance)...but since people want more caped swordsmen...
I think Petey's popularity is negligable. I like him, sure, but I'm guessing his most notable feature is that he's the first Piranha Plant based boss. He's altogether not much more special than Big/King Boo and Goomboss(or Goomba King if you're playing Paper Mario). The thing is, he possesses a humanoid shape, and that makes it much easier to incorporate him as a playable character. Piranha Plants are a staple of the series, and Petey just made it easy to fit them in. I still have no idea why Boo is allowed to play soccer, though.
I'm not certain, but plenty of Mario's more estranged enemies appear on the Toadstool Tour scorecard. I'm fairly sure Spike is on there...and I'm definitely sure Phantamanta is on there...Anyways, you're not getting me. The series of sports games is irrelevant to the series as a whole. Waluigi probably should've been a more important character, like Captain Syrup(that's actually a brilliant idea). He really had no reason to exist then. Now he's become a staple, and he really doesn't deserve it. That's what I'm getting at. When I drew this, and wrote the description, there were probably 50 less Mario party games, and thus 50 less games that he'd been in. You're a fan of spin-offs based on Mario games. I'm a fan of Mario games.
Course, they probably could've given Spike a mace ball special pitch, and have him use the club Clubbas weild as a bat. Namco can make three types of Hammer Bros. playable, but not increase player variety...It's a lot easier to make pallet swaps, I guess. That's called laziness.

That brings up another good point. I dony play Pokeymon, but isn't Charizard a GIANT FLYING DEATH SALAMANDER? K. Rool is tallest in his class, but remember Bowser in super Mario Sunshine? I don't because i never beat the game. The images i saw of him showed a Bowser about 84.92x bigger than Mario. And he can't even KO a healty Mario in Brawl. If anything, Nintendo made KING Dedede a new king, but made him too cheap. He is the strongest but can float around the stage with ease (almost and cheap as Sonic). The Koopa King's rep. wouldn't be completely shattered with K. Rool thrown in there. You want a copy? Link and Toon Link.
Petey is awesome. I play as him in Strikers Charged (just kidding, I haven't unlocked him). But I never realized why King Bom-omb doesn't reappear. The only time I haven't seen him in Super Mario 64 (or Super Mario 64 DS) was as a Stage effect in Bowser Stadium (in Sluggers. He jacked Bowser's flying clown car thing and throws Bombs at the outfielders). I am annoyingly waiting for the next big Mario adventure, and I expect Waluigi to appear. Nintendo needs to see Waluigi's popularity. Now, if you saw Waluigi AND Spike appear in the next adventure, would you still stand for Spike? Because my point would have been proven as well as yours, and both things that the characters need to improve on (Waluigi needs to be in an adventure, Spike needs to appear in a game) and it will be evened out.
You need to get Sluggers. It's a really good game. Keeps you from getting bored better than any other game. And, the characters change slightly from color to color. Blue shy Guy kicks ass at pitching, and Boomerang Bro is 20x better than Hammer Bro. Fire Bro is just okay.

Eh, Toon Link and Link being the same makes sense, though, since they're incarnations of the same character. The only Zelda character that is officially is the same exact person from game to game is Ganondorf.
What I mean about K. Rool is that he seems uninspired in his normal attire(the pirate outfit would work better, but might limit his moveset). Bowser's size is irrelevent; you being a party nut should realize Bowser has a default size. His wildly fluctuating size is a result of "Koopa Magic". The thing is, Mario is a smaller character, and Bowser is a relatively good size compared to the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom characters(besides Wario, who's as tall as Mario for some reason, and he should be taller slightly...it may be because they count him in another series, or didn't want to give him a bigger hurtbox than he has). Dedede is a big fat "king", sure, but he's a giant legless penguin with a hammer, not a fang-mouthed reptile. He's a tad cheap due to his abilities, but once they let Charizard in(he should be at least 5 times Pikachu's height) the gloves came off. He's really not as broken as you'd think, besides the painfully easy chain-grab he's got. He's more sluggish than any heavy besides Ganondorf, and despite possessing the most powerful move in the game, you'll never ever hit, let alone complete the move on a competant player. Sonic is actually awful. He's a fast runner, but almost everything else about him is sub-par.
Bob-Omb King, eh? Now that you mention it, it is odd he never was playable, though it may be due to lack of ideas. He doesn't exactly exhibit any sort of Bob-omb behavior; he's more like the Grabbas(or whatever they're called) you mentioned earlier. He actually is an obstacle on the...14th hole, I think, of the Peach course in Toadstool Tour. It's a recreation of the Bob-omb Battlefield mountain. It's my favorite hole in the entire game.
Oh, I'd LOVE for Waluigi to appear in a platformer or RPG(I picture him showing up as a sleezy shopkeep that grossly overcharges for items or runs a rigged casino), or even as one of Wario's friends in the Warioware games. The fact that he HASN'T is what I'm getting at. Spike is a minor enemy, yes. But if you got rid of all the spin-offs, he'd still be around. And of course, if you just got rid of all the main series games, it'd inadvertently nullify the existance of the spin-offs. Spike himself isn't important, but he's a part of the flesh and blood that made the spin-offs. Waluigi is part of the spin-offs, and Mario would still be the series it is without them. I wouldn't get your hopes up for his platformer debut, though. As it stands, Nintendo is more likely to recycle Eeries or Reznor before they actually use him in a game...But I HAVE been wrong before. ^_^

Link and Toon Link is stupid idea in my opinion. But even stupider is Shiek. That, technically, is making 5 characters to play from Lengend of Zelda. Is Link the most recongnized cartoon character in America? No. An actual test showed that more young kids can recognize Mario before Mickey Mouse. That's true! I say, "Screw toon Link. We don't need him. Or better yet: Screw Link!"
Sonic is cheap, though. His retarded speed and stupid homing attack drives me mentally insane. Do you play as Pit? If you do, you suck. He is cheaper than Sonic. He is the cheapest in the game. YOu don't need any talent whatsoever to win as Pit. His retarded fire Ring AI-Ye-Ye-YAH crap and stupid flying up B makes me want to Falcon Punch babies. Marth is cheap too. he cant have a changeable side b and shield breaker. It doesn't work.
K. Rool would be cool. Don't even argue. I already thought out his attacks and stuff. His final smash would be him going crazy on everyone like in DKC2. I also think that Daisy should appear in her Striker suit. I know that Strikers Charged is a spin-off, but that would be the only wasy I'd see her. I thought out her attacks, too. (Special= Charge Kick. Side B= Slide Tackle. Up B= Diving Shot. Down B= Crystal Smash. Her final smash would be her jumping in the air and doing her Megastrike and launching soccer balls at everyone like a homicidal Dedede smash)
Another thing that would be awesome if they made a Superstar Saga type thing but with Wario and Waluigi. I'd buy that. I also think Waluigi should be in Wario Ware. He'd get his own outfit and his new look and be awesome. Wouldn't it? I know I didn't debate anything, and threw out ideas, but I needed someone to see into my mind.

Link is actually one of the most popular Nintendo characters, and most people agree his games are better than Mario's. I was quite saddened that Wind Waker seemed to get the shaft between Melee and Brawl, and Toon Link's inclusion really brightened my day. I think it's pretty surprising they managed to make him look great without using cel shading.
You seem to be mistaking annoying characters for cheap ones. Sonic is fast, and his lack of tells(mostly because a lot of his moves are similar) coupled with his painfully long(it's the longest 10 seconds ever) Final Smash are his only strengths. He's medium-light(I think), and he has miserable priority(in case you don't understand, priority is the process by which the outcome of two connected opposing attacks has. Basically, if you swat Sonic's punching fist, he'll get hit, and you won't).
Pit is...annoying, but you can break out of Angel Ring by holding up to DI out of it. Pit players used to be common, but they dropped off after discovering how easy it is to screw him over. See, if he tries to use his recovery move, hit him. Pit alone suffers from this weakness: If he is damaged while flying, he cannot perform any other action til he plants his feet back on the ground.
As for Marth, well...Marth is actually good. He's one of the best characters in Melee, and still pretty good in Brawl. Thankfully, his range got toned down...but that's about it.
But if you REALLY wanna see cheap, look at Meta Knight. Light weight and low KO power don't mean anything when you've got at least 6 recovery options and can chase people offscreen and still recover. Add to that his almost lagless attacks and extremely high priority and you've got BROKEN.
K. Rool could be cool. But if Link is a stupid idea, K. Rool is a thought that should never occur. I'm sorry, but if you're gonna argue the importance of a gaming juggernaut and say he's a bad idea for a character, then go and say a much less important villain is a good one, I have reason to question your sanity. I think having two Links is a tad much, but they're probably just being nice to people who played Young Link in Melee, and decided it'd be nice to update and make him the most popular incarnation of Link(in Japan, at least). As for Sheik, it was a dumb idea, considering she doesn't appear in TP, but I'm guessing it's just conveiniance for people who played Zelda/Sheik in Melee.
Peach's moveset seems to be based on all the non-traditional Mario games at the time of Melee's release, which makes sense, cause those are the only games she's ever playable in. I think making another character from the Mario series based only one ONE of those games would be a crime against the series. Your Striker Daisy idea seems like a novel idea, but it makes her fail to come off as a Mario character. There's no reflection of that in her moveset, and that makes her seem like Ganondorf. Throw in Super Balls(they're the projectiles Mario shoots after getting a flower in Super Mario Land), and then you'll be getting somewhere.
Waluigi should appear in some game related to Wario. As it is right now, it seems like he's some random guy Wario only talks to when he needs a doubles partner cause nobody else will play on his team.

When I said Link should be cut out, I was speaking for me and me only. If I was speaking for the world, I would say that Toon Link goes before Link. He's just less important. I actually believe that DK is more important than Link. He's been in more games, has been developed a bit, and has shown up almost everywhere.
Striker Daisy's only attack that I mentioned that doesn't relate to her is her Up-B I gave her. She charges kicks, slide tackles, and her Crystal Smash is her special sttack. And K. Rool can have his musket, his really powerfull arms, and his other stuff he'd need. Another charcter thatI think should appear in Brawl is Tom Nook. Sure, he'd have to be the weakest, but his special attacks could be making up for his lack of strength. He could always have an attack that could take time to set up (like the Wario Waft, maybe he could shoot up one of his shops in the game EG. Nook's Cranny would pop up in front of him when not charged, Nookington's would deal an instant KO) or a projectile attack (throwing Bells, throwing furniture, even using a Slingshot). Besides, Brawl put up an Animal Crossing stage. They can't just stop there.
I always thought Waluigi was Wario's brother, and Mario was Wario's cousin.

Technically, Wario and Yoshi(not as much) have their own series too, in a way. But the point remains that DK, Wario, and Yoshi all first appeared in games where Mario was the player character. He is the glue that binds them together. Sure, they may have attempted to branch out and make a name for themselves, but whenever Mario throws a party, a golf or tennis tournament, or a racing series, they go.

Sure, Yoshi's Island is a lot like the original Mario games, but they do enough things different to make the games have decidedly different feels. In fact, I'd say Yoshi's games are actually more different than the DKC games were from Super Mario World.
