Description
So, I saw a couple height charts for Steven Universe around the interwebz, but the ones I could find only showed the fusions and primary Gem's in relation to Steven.Being curious I decided to throw this together.
All heights are based off of observed scale(between characters(mostly in relation to Steven)) from within the actual show and so far everything seems to match up.

EDIT5: double checked Sardonyx's height. While her height fluctuates between scenes and on average is shorter than Sugilite, Ive noticed both their proportions are a bit odd. Even scaled up to match the taller of the fluctuations, Sardonyx is still shorter than Sugilite. It seems Sugilite has some short legs compared to the rest of her body, while Sardonyx has very long legs as compared to hers. Coincidentally Sardonyx's position on the chart has not moved.

That we've seen a genuine Gem of, yes. That is very likely.
Although, there is still that Gem we saw the CG's forced into the form of when they were going to The Human Zoo.
Pretty sure that one would be smaller than Aquamarine.

Already asked, already answered:
"... when YD is holding both Blue and Yellow Pearl, ... the Pearls take up a significant space in her hand ... it is still possible for two knee high Pearls to fit in a Diamonds hand."
The way they are being held and how the Pearls are standing/sitting on YD's hand(as well as perspective angle) is important.
A general response:
"... The Gem's ability to shape shift makes consistency and frequency more important than a single outlier."
If there are more comparisons in the future that make the Diamonds more consistently taller, then I will make that change.
But at the moment, with what has aired, there are far more comparisons that places the Pearls at being about knee high to the Diamonds.

You know what to do:
1. Add Aquamarine and Topaz(fused and unfused)
2.You might want to update the sizes of Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond, because if you pay attention closely at the Steven Universe Wanted promo, which can be seen here: youtu.be/mUMA1fBcsIo (specifically towards the end of it), you can see that Steven is a little bit smaller then Blue Diamond's EYEBALL! (whoa....)

I don't add Gems or make changes until the content demanding those additions or changes is part of an officially aired episode(I don't count the App because not everyone has the opportunity to watch it on the App). Promo's can be misleading, and I do not want to be party to spoilers.
Then I need time to do comparisons and such.
(I know at this point the cats basically already out of the bag, but Im waiting until after tonight's episode to even start. Just to be safe.)

As Ive said many times, the Gem's ability to shape shift makes consistency and frequency more important than a single outlier. We've had many comparisons to the Diamonds, of which only one suggests Steven is about half a Diamond's head. And that one has not even been officially aired.
When it does air, I expect there will be many more scenes in which to compare a Diamond to Steven. If he is consistently that small then I will make the change.
I will not throw out previous comparisons for a single outlier.

I already have Jasper as being taller than both Rose and Garnet. By about a head at that.
And Lapis in my chart is at Jasper's waist level.

I think the diamonds are closer to Sugilite's height at the least.
Comparing Sugilite's first appearance and Blue Diamond in 'What's the use of feeling blue?' They're roughly the same height in comparison to Steven.
Even though this isn't official, it's a good reference.

There isn't enough consistent comparisons to the Diamonds to change their place in the chart.
Greg is the biggest counter, with how Blue was able to pick him up and hold him in one hand, but that alone isn't enough to counter the many more frequent comparisons to the Pearls that are always around them. The Gem's ability to shape shift makes consistency and frequency more important than a single outlier.
If something more consistent comes out in the future Ill make the change if needed.

As for the Diamond Placements, I disagree.
The Pearls(all three we've seen) consistently appear to be about just shy of the Diamonds knee in height, in pretty much every scene I can find.
The only variations Ive seen is when YD is holding both Blue and Yellow Pearl, but even then the Pearls take up a significant space in her hand and it is still possible for two knee high Pearls to fit in a Diamonds hand. So until I see something otherwise, specifically something that would be enough to change their positions in the chart, then I don't see the need to make a change.

Probably not going to add Carnelian.
She was only in one scene really, and not in a way that made height comparison doable.
She said "Im not the shortest anymore!" implying she is taller than (CG)Amethyst, but between the lack of comparable subjects and the fact that she doesn't look that much different in height than Amethyst I don't see a need to.
That could change in the future tho.
If we see more Carnelians or this one again, then I might have a reason to include her.
But as it stands now, it would be kinda redundant.

With the new steven bomb the diamonds prove to be big enough to hold 2 pearls in one hand ... so this height chart isn't fully Acurate.
But all height charts are irrelevant as the crew Iverson has said they don't care about height and the heights fluctuate based on who is story boarding and what they need out of a scene. ALL HEIGHT CHARTS ARE WRONG... and they all ways will be untill the crewniverse releases an official chart.

Say, metaphorically speaking, one wanted to make a cross over of SU with transformers, so would a diamond be big enough to face off against ,say, devastator? Would they be eye to eye?

well, I looked up the size of optimus prime, it said that he is about 18 ft. or 19 ft (6meters). and that is about up to devastator's waist/pelvis ( I am referencing G1) and it seems devastator might be double optimus's size, so possibly 36 ft. comparing to what you said in your comments, I just wanted to ask.

As stated in various other posts the SU Crew does not adhere to exact measurements.
That said, there are 1 or 2 mentions of actual heights mentioned in the show, IIRC Steven was mentioned as being 4 feet,(this is not very reliable since I can't remember where it was said), and Greg said Rose was 8 feet tall in Story for Steven.
So if Rose is ~8 ft tall, the Diamonds would be ~16 ft, Sugilite would be ~28 ft, and Alexandrite would be ~32 ft.
So I would wager a Diamond is not tall enough to be eye to eye to Devastator.
Then again Gems can shapeshift, so a Diamond could easily become tall enough.

I understand. I just wanted to get a good reference source for future material and I did not want to have a mess up in size variation. but given the approximation for the diamonds, they could be eye to eye with megatron or optimus, almost. I do apologise if I am taking this beyond proportion or if my line of questioning is annoying. besides that, great work on the chart.

Im already aware of the crew's stance on character heights.
As Ive mentioned before, this chart is based on comparative observation across multiple episodes against as consistent as possible baselines.
Fluctuations in height are accounted for, and the average of the most consistently seen heights are used.
Also, exact numerical measurements are not used, and never will be.
As for the new episodes, I don't intend to make any changes until after the originally scheduled air dates.
That said... being able to hold two pearls in one hand does not necessarily mean the Diamond's placement will change.
How they were held, and whether that size comparison remains consistent against other scenes, background elements, and/or characters is what is important.

I still think it's a little sillt to even try to make a height chart for the show after all gems bodies are made of light they can change shape whenever

Having the heights of the base forms of shapeshifters is useful.
Sure they can shift to any size but they also reference themselves to their environment.
A shapeshifter trying to hide among humans won't go prancing about at 10 feet tall for example.
Its makes them stand out and is counter to the whole "hide among humans" bit.
Especially so for Steven Universe, as it has been established that Gems have a static base form.
They can shift away from that form, but that shapeshift is not permanent nor long lasting.
Beyond that most artists Ive seen, try to be accurate to what has been seen on the show.
Hence why my goal is observed comparison rather than strict adherence to measurements.

Think Sardonyx would be larger. In her first appearance, her hands from base of the palm to middle finger were about as long as Steven is tall.

I don't use just one scene to determine height and chart position.
As Ive discussed before, Sardonyx's height fluctuates alot from episode to episode.
Other scenes in Cry for Help also show Steven being much larger as compared to her hands.
In cases like this, I try to compare to many characters and from many scenes/episodes and use the most consistent results.
Ive already gone over Sardonyx multiple times and have increased her height to favor the taller side twice already.
I even rechecked her when Know Your Fusion came out, thanks to that episode I was able to compare her to Smoky Quartz.
And through Smoky Quartz and the Temple Door, compare Sardonyx to both Jasper and Rose.
My personal headcannon for why Sardonyx's hands are so big in that scene, is that she shapeshifted them to be larger so she could support Steven better.
I mean Garnet has shown a fairly consistent use of stretching and shapeshifting her arms and hands, and both Garnet and Pearl have personalities that would do that.

Well Rose apparently shattered Pink Diamond, so I won't say it is impossible.
But we also don't know the nature of the Diamond's power.
Could be each Diamond's power is different...
Could be Diamonds have immense raw strength, or overwhelming abilities...
Or their power could simply come from the hierarchy itself, while they themselves aren't really all that strong...
Which ever the case, Im more inclined to think a Diamond's size is the least of the factors that matter.
I mean Malachite is surprisingly slightly smaller than Alexandrite, yet was still overwhelming Alexandrite for most of their fight.

I disagree. I've reviewed both Earthlings and Know Your Fusion multiple times. My placement and height of Smoky matches up with all known appearances with either Jasper or Sardonyx(the most frequent and comparable candidates).
In Earthlings Smoky was around the same height as Jasper, but fluctuated at times to seem a bit taller.
In Know Your Fusion Smoky fluctuated between Sardonyx's knee to just under the halfway point of Sardonyx's thigh.
Changing Smoky to "...around over half Sardonyx's shin" would either make Smoky way too short(shorter than Garnet), or make Sardonyx too tall.
Ive already gone over Sardonyx multiple times and have increased her height to favor the taller side twice already.
(Meaning Im confident in Sardonyx's current height and placement)
My current placement and height of Smoky matches up to multiple reference points, and those reference points(Jasper and Sardonyx) are basically the only reliable ones currently available...
I don't think I got Smoky wrong.
EDIT: In fact, I had a thought and double checked. Smoky can also be compared to the Temple Door, and through that be compared to Rose.
And My current placement and height matches up with Rose as well. (The Temple Door, conveniently has equally sized and spaced rectangles placed up the sides. Rose is a bit over 4 1/2 of these rectangles and Smokey is very close to 5)

Mmm... Maybe. There are plenty of scenes with the fusion and even a nice static door to compare to. If I recall correctly only Steven and Amethyst were ever close enough to the door(while standing in a way to make height comparisons accurate). But I think it could be done.
Im just not sure if I should.
From what I can tell of what we've seen and the lore we know, fusions of the same Gem Type just result in proportionally bigger versions of the base gem. In theory adding more Gems would just increase the fusion's size by a linear amount, perfectly proportional to the number of Gems in the fusion.
Basically, you can already determine the size of the Ruby Fusion.
Just look at a normal Ruby's size and multiply that by the number of Rubies in the fusion.
(My estimate is a bit bigger than Opal, but not as big as Sardonyx)
