Description Spmething for , and for doing some fantastic art and all in their round-about way getting me off my ass to draw this up last night.

Snape and Hermoine strike me as characters that have a lot in common. Both increadibly studious and curious and defenetly involved in their studies. Hermoine also strikes me as the sort of student that Snape would have loved if she had been sorted into his own house. Believe me (I'm a teacher and can honestly say this), a kid who wants to answer everything can be annying, but deep down, no matter how annoyed you say you are, you're wanting to do backflips that a student is *that* into your class. I mean, come on...what else does he have? Crabb and Goyel? Gotta admit, the recent Slytherien students haven't exactly been exactly clever and sly.

Anyway, here they are...the nerds of Hogwarts

Snape and Hermoine belong to J.K. Rowling

Oh how different things might have been for Hermione had she been flung into Slytherin! Snape certainly would have had a favourite in her - you're right there. I get the impression that students who don't want to learn, or are just lazy, really do irk the ol' potions master, and that's totally understandable. Must be frustrating, really, to try and teach peeps who don't want to know.

Anyway, I digress. I really love this picture of yours - you have a beautiful drawing style, and the colours are really bold and striking. I love it.

Thanks muchly and you're spot on. Nothing is worse then having students who obviously don't want to be there or disrespect the subject that you teach.

Thanks for the comment on the colours. It's a tricky thing for me and I'm still trying to get my colouring to a point where I really think it all works well together.

Huh... never thought of that. I guess they ARE both hardcore geeks, aren't they? It's interesting how a person's childhood affects the development of their personality. A good friend of mine would say they're like two seeds from the same plant... one grown in a sunny window; the other kept in a closet.

Oops, looks like my infrequent visits of DA backfire again.
They really do have quite much in common, both are such inventive personalities. I definitely agree on the fact that if Hermione had been in Slytherin, she'd probably been treated quite differently.
Neat stylishing and atmosphere there, I really like expressions.

Yes...I can see it now.
Sorting Hat: Slytherian!
Snape: Oh thank god! A compitent one! Boo-ya!

I really like the faces in thos one too. Started out as a doodle and just kinda grew on me.

Awwww, putting these two in a picture that would never happen in the book, makes me go a little misty. I wish/hope these two interacte with each other in some way in the future, I think they have a lot in common.

I can see where you're coming from, but I've also seen Hermione and McGonagall as kindred spirits. Perhaps even more so than Hermione and Snape, since they're both female. XD Anyway, I like how you've shown them as friends without any hints at more. I really like your style and the coloring and lighting look fabulous.

Wow, I love this! Not only the rough style, but also the ...atmosphere. X) I've come to like Snape more and more since the last 2 books and it's interesting to see your interpretation of his and Hermione's relationship X) (and platonic even! XDD All you ever see about those two is 'ship 8D;; *doesn't really support that* )

Erikonil In reply to leelakin [2005-08-01 06:03:24 +0000 UTC]

Let's hear it for platonic relationships! I kinda look at non-canon ships in the same general way; if a writer can do a plausable and realistic job at figguring out how two people can get together then I can generally go along with it for a good story. But I do think that a lot of people in a lot of fandoms miss out on platonic relationships that can be just as interesting as romantic ones.

...although, if she was his age, I could totaly see them hooking up

Yep, IF! XDDD I kinda have that underage law barrier in my head there... XDDDD
I personally find Luna very interesting. I can't wait what role she'll play in the last (T_T) book. 8D
And I don't know why, but the Harry/Ginny thing bored the hell outta me. XD;; I was never much of a fan of that (even if platonic) relationship, maybe the fangirl thing since the very beginning killed it for me. *shrugs* 8D;

Lets hear it for Luna! Quirky characters rule. I think we'll defenetly see some interesting things in the last book.

I try to tune rabid fan-people out in general. They have a way of ruining *any* fandom.

heehee! XDDD With fangirl I actually meant Ginny being Harry's fangirl. Or did you refer to that, too?

this is absolutely great, because of how you pointed out the fact they are quite similar. And yes, Hermy would have been Snape's ultimate favourite if she were in his house... I like the fact you didn't mention romance (I'm not too fond of the Hermy/snape thingy) but I think they would be devastatingly awesome if they had to do a mission together. Both of them are just brilliant minds, and seing them working together hand in hand would be just... aaaarrrg!

Erikonil In reply to kyla79 [2005-07-29 23:38:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh defenetly. I could defenetly see the two playing off each other birlliantly.

I can see the ship in certain ways though. It's just like any other non-canon shipping. If a writer can do it well, it's cool. If not, then I generally lose intrest pretty damn fast. But, just as characters though, they play well in any sort of relationship. Adversarial/friend/professional/educational works well I think.

They kinda look like two sides of a coin to me. Snape was that quiet nerd who got picked on in class and Hermoine being the nerd who would be voted class president. I've always kinda seen Hermoine as the kind of person Snape could have been if he could drop grudges and had better social skills. She really didn't become fast friends with Ron and Harry until midway though the first book, so I imagine that if she knew what Snape's school life was as a kid, she could defenetly be someone who could empathise with him.

But yeah..I do like the possibilities that the two characters present for any sort of interaction.

Heh heh, you're very welcome. Had to do something since I'm in a very HP mood right now. The two happen to be two of my favorite characters and well, when Snape say's he want sto be drawn, I really have very little say in the matter. Hermoine was a bit shy but eventaully came out and was quite helpful in the end, rounding out the design nicely. She is quite ready to pop up in a few more pics, so keep an eye out for a few more at least.
