Saw a bit of your livestream, nice work! :]
I think a little thing that would make your work much stronger is a value touch... unless she's like... wet or damp or something, she'll only have one true dominant light value on her whole figure. This only applies to the skin since her outfit is plastic/latexy. But on her skin, she has around 5 or 6 dominant light values. Example: Even though her left breast is closer to the "camera" (where it seems like the light is coming from too) her right breast has a more powerful light value on it. This should be the other way around, the right breast should never be AS bright as the left.
I think your work is awesome, but you just have this interesting way of rendering skin that can be improved upon to get closer to that look you seem to be going for.

Thanks for hanging out with us on the stream
I don't see it ._. her chest is round, boobs go in V-like directions from spine, especially as her left hand is raised. I mean, i understand your point but i don't see it on the picture ._.
yeah, her skin is shiny
don't get me wrong, i appreciate critique, but it's only around 4 hours of work. It's less than a speedpaint her left elbow and forearm are just bad, right hand makes not much sense and her right thigh is cropped in an (composition-wise) absolutely atrocious way, but I have no desire to look for perfection or lighting realism (as seen by my most basic lights) If I did, I'd put at least 10-20 hours in the picture, didn't use awful cropping, would add detailed background and advanced lighting
btw. what do you mean by "unless she's like... wet or damp or something, she'll only have one true dominant light value on her whole figure."?

When you have multiple dominant light values on skin, it doesn't quite look like skin anymore (unless she had a bunch of lights all around her, but thats a headache). Time or no time, realistic light rendering is not what I'm talking about, I'm only talking about consistency and believability. By the wet and damp thing, I meant if she was soaked, the water on her skin would make it look like she was more 'glossy' and you could get away with the lighting thing.
A lot of photos get rid of this with photoshop and make people look airbrushed and glossy, which is why a lot of ads look so odd.
Here are some examples:
These B&W images both show that there is only one lightest light on their figures. ScarJo's right cheek and nose are lighter than any other part of her face, and the model's shoulder area is lighter than the rest of her figure. Difficult to initially see, but if you look for it, it is there.
Β Β
Now for this color pic. The model's left shoulder is almost totally white, but the rest of her never reaches that value. Her breast that is closer to the light is way lighter than the other.
Or even a classical painting.
The dude telling a funny joke has a super light upper back.
Anyway, PLEASE don't take this as me trying to be an arse to you. I really like your art, and I think this one thing will really take it to the next level. I've looked through your gallery and have seen that your skin typically looks super glossy (it does in a lot of my art too. I just learned this stuff in the last two months spending 4 hrs a day figure drawing). After I learned about all this stuff, I looked around at artists I enjoy and saw this to be a consistent thing. Even in cartoony and heavily stylized images. It's one major element that will make something look super solid and convincing. I'm not worried about the cropping or the other things you mentioned because I saw those were things you purposely overlooked for time. That is fine. Remember, its not for realism, its for believability.

all fine, I feel like sound like an asshole as well XD but let's just make it clear, it's only theoretical discussion with positive attitude
I never ever use black and white as reference, it's always fake! you can't build shape with darkening or lighting a color(or gray), you need to use different colors...
but after one day I have to agree, blue highlights on her are a bit too strong, but still, I shine up the skin often cause it looks too soft compared to shiny things I think I'm just too much into latex drawing XD rough and soft surfaces are such boring thing to paint.
Other than that I have to point out that on every photo you included light comes from a side or is scattered while I'm usually going for NUTS magazine kind of lighting (let's be real, men's magazines are pretty good source for sexy poses, although playboy or maxim usually go for these weird scattered light feel and shitload of photoshop like we were still in nineties ) with some secondary source of light coming from side(s). I'm basically much more interested in sculpting shape with colors than dramatic light.
I'm actually flattered that someone looks so much into my drawings Thanks!
