Description
Two layers. It was originally just a painting - in teal, black and white. It was an 'Art in 5 Minutes' piece, and I really didn't like it. So, out of boredom I cut some windows into it. I then decided to stick manuscript paper behind.... and I liked what was happening so I worked the surface a little more - and there you have it.
The composition and arrangement of those windows isn't too good - not too bad, but not too good. I was pretty much just mucking around to begin with so wasn't really paying all that much attention. I don't like how there's such a division down the middle, and there isn't a window there till up the top.
But, I'll live.
Acrylics, glue, masking tape, cardboard, 30 year old manuscript paper and dry pastel

Love it.
The colors and textures are soft but rude.
ItΒ΄s a piece.
Sounds really good to me.
Cheers

Nice concept. I know what you mean about the windows, but it still turned out good. Isn't it satisfying to take something you don't like and make it better? Good work.

Very good and worthwhile experiment. Where did the masking tape come into play?

The masking tape is all over the underside, sticking the manuscript paper to the cardboard

other than the division line, which i dind't notice till i read your comment, this is absofuckinglutely terrific. the textures, the contrast between the muddled acrylics and hte sheet music, the cuts and scrapes, the colors, fucking everything.

I really like all the texture. The little notes give it an intricacy that draws the viewer in to experience all the fine details of the paint. Good job!

This is super! What I love most about your mixed media work is that your enthusiasm is infectious! You make we want to go get a load of materials and experiment with somthing new to me.

hehe, well I highly recommend you give it a go!
Mixed media work is just so much fun. You can add whatever you fancy.... you can stick things, you can paint, you can draw all over it, you can rip it up, you can stick it back together, you can use coffee or cement.... FUN!
