Hey this is good! I'm not too sure about the chest, as per someone else up there ^ but I do love that helmet as well... the modelling method you used is obviously working quite well . I love the 'taxi driver' pose too... contrary to whoever siad it up there, I reckon he's saying "you talkin' to me? I don't see no one else here; you talkin' to me?"
It's also good to see a robot with joints hehe
I'd definitely like to see more poses from this one.

oo really cool render! wish i knew how to do that kind of stuff!
just something i noticed: the red parts on fingers of the left hand, hard to distinguish the individual fingers. looks like a solid piece. but it could just be my monitor...
how long did it take u to complete this?

lovely love the style of torus love the concept how do u go about designing robots?

ethan- In reply to souljahsstory [2003-08-30 09:46:45 +0000 UTC]
First I think of what I want the robot to be capable of, I make major decisions. Will it walk on 2 legs like a human, have tracks like a tank? Will it have 1 eye, 2 eyes, a visor perhaps? Once I get an idea in my head for the basis of the robot in any category - proportion, function, mechanics... I 'll quickly sketch that piece. From that one wether it's a hand, head, joint I begin reacting by developing the other pieces of the robot. It's important for me to go into modeling with the aethetics of the robot strongly understood. Loosely at first on paper, then meticulously in the 3d application. I've found this to be the most natural way for me.

looks great...maybe you could make the golden visor some other color that doesn't clash with the red details in the rest of the body? possibly a dark blue?

someone mentioned that he seemed to be sayin 'hey how ya doin'.. but after lookin at the reflection in his helm, i was thinking he was looking at his hands like 'what're these.. how peculiar..'

You're good! You hit it on the head, that's the reaction I was hoping to induce. Seeing that this is a newly finished design I wanted even the robot to be a little curious about itself. Curoisity, intrigue, that's what I wanted it to convey. Thanks for checking it out.

You conveyed the idea wonderfully.. I think most people are blown away by the image at first and don't notice things like that.. I was at first, but I'm trying to take more notice of smaller things like that in people's art. It really is a nice piece.

It's good to look for the smaller things, that's a big part of the enjoyment for me.
