Well if you're putting little things into your art, I guess it would be. I always put random things in my art/writings that nobody would really catch, but that I'd have to constantly be explaining. It's not really worth the explanation most of the time because it's usually only cool to me, but it's there.

Lol, I like the idea of random things, I've never done that but it sounds like fun.

3d max, right? I've always loved that program for it's killer reflections. anyway, this is so perfect, so much attention to detail. I adore the pose. I want one of these robots. it looks so real, honestly

Its very well rendered...the only thing that draws me back is the extreme glare. A little less would make me happy
Would you do a wallpaper maybe?

No, but it's very similar. btw the logo is not my creation, it's my client's logo but the simlarity is very close to the link.

Hmmm, I like the modelling you did a lot. The reflection on the parts though seems a bit much. If they were a bit less reflective, I think that logo there on the forehead would be a lot easier to see It looks really good though, maybe the visor part of his mask could use a bit more of a glow rather than reflection to it
Awesome job as usual #ethan-

I'm pretty satisified with the level of reflectiveness but I agree that the visor could use more glow, an intense glow.

Very cool, but the red/brown joints make it look like it's just a rusted maquette with a shiny new suit. It's also hard to tell if it's made of metal or plasitic, or some sort of composite of the two. I still think it's a cool picture, though. =^-^=

ethan- In reply to korild [2003-08-30 01:25:53 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, I may have to adjust the brightness of the red and give it a bit of specularity, my intention wasn't to make it look rusted. Wether the suit is metal or plastic is entirely subjective at this stage, I haven't decided yet either. Since I'm not designing this for actual reproduction I'm not very concerned with the materials but it's something to think about, thanks for mentioning it.

Great improvement over the last version. It still reminds me a little too much of Mbot. Ball and joint robots look nice but in reality they can't exist without some other sort of system to hold them upright and control the movement. Just saying that it would be nice to see some dampers or something to show that the range of motion isn't just determined by how much you can rotate a piece before may overlaps another piece.

Thanks, this is the best piece of advice I've had on this model. It's a challenge that'll step up the degree of difficulty, imagination, and most importantly, realism. I can't thank you enough for this suggestion.

I've only done a wee bit of 3D modeling, thus I can't really offer any advice. But I do love how to make the textures look the way they do. A nice shiney robotic plastic, with excellent lighting and reflective angles to demonstrate how shiny the surfaces are. The render time must be something else!
