Description
Mostly playing around with wrinkles on this one. I started off thinking about a bustle-effect with the skirt there, but bustles are usually a bit higher up. I still like this, though.Let me know what you guys think!

Very pretty =3 . I like the outfit and accessories, it keeps things busy and fun to look at. I think with the tart, I know what your friend might have found off with it. Even with a steady even hand, you almost never see objects at perfectly even eye level like that; normally, the tart would be tipped to one side or the other at least a little, showing the oval of the top/bottom a bit.
Everything else about the figure looks great; bright, warm colors, you did a great job leaving clean white areas, and your coloring is very sharp, with little blending, making a postery illustrative look.
I like the folds of the skirt, and that you added a bit of purple, but it doesn't seem to match the rest of the outfit as well, and is plainer. I couldn't tell it was a skirt at first because of how the fabric reacts around her waist; more like a blanket or sheet. It could look a little more 'attached' somehow.
Lastly, the color of the drapes in the background could be something a little less drab, or gray. While softer or muted colors is good to help the focus of the picture stand out, I don't think this color matches at all; making it even a little warmer, like a pale cream or butter, or perhaps like white sheets (or plenty of other potential options) might work better.
I especially like the curls of her hair and her lips; she's very pretty.

I love seeing when someone's open to it, so when I see someone mention they'd like real feedback, I try to think of something .

T'is muchly appreciated. I don't get much actual feedback here on dA. I usually have to post on a forum and pray for a few replies over there. lol.

Heh, I know what you mean. I think a lot of people are just afraid to say anything unless they know the person wants crit; I know that I don't give concrit, or any feedback usually, unless the artist/writer specifically says they want it, and lots of times they never mention it.
I'm usually kinda' shy about posting my work on forums and things; that means people will definitely see it XD ! It's weird, but I kind of post most of the art I do on dA assuming almost nobody will see it, and I 80% prefer it that way XD .

*nods* I'm guilty of that... Well, I'm mostly guilty of the fav-and-run, but when I do comment on here it's rarely for crit. ;^^
lol. Awww, but that's the whole point! It's pretty amazing how much feedback can help you improve, especially if you get folks who'll sit down and really think about what they say. You do get the ones who pat you on your back and the ones who just leave criticism, but eh. You learn to overlook those and focus on how to improve.

I fave-and-run aaalways XD . But in return, I always say in my deviations that I don't mind if other people do the same to me = P . So it all works out!
Usually, I can tell my own biggest weaknesses myself. Artists, we're our own biggest critics, right XD ? I've made some weak attempts at getting feedback before, but I've never been given anything substantial. I guess that's why I always try to give real concrit when I comment; "treat others as you would like to be treated" ^^' .
Oh, but professors can give real feedback! That's one good thing about college art classes, few as I've taken ^^ .

lol. Yeah, I really don't mind when other folks fave-and-run. It's a boost in itself to know they liked the pic enough to fave it.
Hmmmm, true. But sometimes you're too close to the pic to really see what could be improved right then. It may take several days/weeks/however long to really be able to see something that might be off. Some of the pics I've been most proud of right after finishing them have had HUGE flaws that I couldn't see in time to correct.
Ahhhh, professors that are willing to give crit are awesome. I've only had the opportunity to take two art classes (watercolor and ceramics), but the teachers were pretty amazing. Loooooved those classes. Also was able to get some good feedback in real-time from some of the other art students. It was an interesting exercise in quickly separating myself from the picture to be able to take the crit objectively. Don't have much opportunity to do that.

I like to use the mirror trick, or flip the picture and look at it through the light (if the paper isn't too thick/have stuff on the back too) to see the big mistakes! Gosh, it's like my eyes are screwed on wrong when I'm drawing, I always draw things tilted and don't even notice until I flip it XD .
I'm the same, I've only taken Design 101, Sculpture (which was a waste of time), and am now taking Watercolor. That'll be the last studio art class I take (sigh), but it's great to have the experience. I love a decent professor, but it can be hit-and-miss.

Yeah, I do that. It help to an extent, as far as anatomical anomalies (eyes on the wrong level, what the heck is going on with the chin, etc) go. But there are things like is the character actually interacting with the objects around them (thumb position/impression while holding an object, etc) that other folks can catch better.
lol. I have to admit, I really, really miss fun electives like that.

Ahaha, if people actually took the time to notice design and composition elements, I'd try to ask for help much more! But usually, I have to pull teeth just to choke out of them if anything looks wonky; other than teachers/classrooms, I don't recall ever getting anything beyond shallow 'the eyes are aligned wrong' type critique ^^' .
Then again, maybe that's because I'm so shy about asking. I should annoy people more about it, I guess XD .

*nods* The forum's are great for that once folks know you're wanting something in-depth. Even folks who don't draw are willing to give more of a comment. Just gotta keep digging for an answer. I get a bit annoyed when I ask someone what they think of a picture and all I get back is, "Looks good" or "It's ok." I start sending glares into their soul and ask them for more information on what they think is good/not so good. Even if they just say, "the eyes are wrong," I press further and ask "Wrong in what way?" Needless to say my family and close friends are all quite used to this by now and the soul-glaring is largely unnecessary on them. lol.

That's an awesome method that I should totally steal XD . I just need to be less of a homebug. My family always has to be sarcastic and rude, it's always ":glance: Oh, it's horrible, if I were you I'd give up now and kill myself from the shame." or "Oh, I could draw something far better than that, just let me 'fix it' for you" (none of them can draw. We're just a snarky sarcastic bunch XD !

Well for one i love it to death. It captivates my eye in every shape form and fashion. However, being your bestfriend, i have to critique. I love the way she holds the tart but there is something there that bugs me, it either correct and my eye doesn't understand or its wrong and i can't figure it out LOLZ. I feel like the top of her shoulder is to big, and how you have it made so small, i can literally strip naked and take a look at myself in the mirror and it a little nobbier at the apex of my shoulder where the clavicular bone meet the whatever bone, but on the pic it seems disproportional. So yeah thats all, and thats me staring at your picture really hard. All in all make me a tiny lil cut of it and send it to me best valentines pic EVAR!

Both have similar shoulder positions (Second from the left in the first and #3 in the other).

Another lovely piece Eu! I think what I like the most is your use of light on her back area. The curves of her back are actually really perfect! The folds are quite nice but it's really the back that draws you in. Her hair is really lovely too! Wonderful composition as always with you.

ET I just have to point out in case I have never done so before, I just love your coloring. You do so much more with color than most people even think about doing. I love the pose for some reason the back area is my favorite, all the curves look real and not exaggerated at all. Always careful with details, your hands are perfect proportionally and draw the eyes right to that spot, which I assume was the point due to your title. If I had to choose one thing I did not like about this piece it would be the face. Compared to all the other details you had added the face seems like an after thought. Sometimes covering half the face works while other times it does not, this I think was one of those cases. It might have also been better to open the eyes or something of that sort to add interest to the face. Other than that this is another amazing work from you ^_^
(its a critique in comment form sorry that button business scares me off)

Yaaaaay for crit!
Hmmm... I wanted her to look kind of snobbish yet coy. Almost Jessica Rabbit-ish without the... exaggerated proportions. I intended for her eye to be open, but at that angle where you can't really tell. I shall have to work on that in the future, though.
