Prismacolor Colored PencilsOk so I would like to hear all your suggestions for what I should do in terms of a background/environment. PLEASE.

plants around the tree adn eye.

maybe you should look at some of dali's stuff, like put some random distorted object in the background, like maybe the eye is looking for it or something. it dosn't have to be too complicated, i seem to think that if there is too much it seems to clutter the image and take away the essential emphasis of the picture.

I definitley agree with you about cluttered pictures loseing the meaning in their focal point. The idea of backgrounds is never appealing to me, but doing some randomness sounds fun.

Actually, they had an eye tree very similar to this in Dark Cloud 2. There was also a mouth tree. Maybe you could do a nose tree, or an ear tree, or... uh... Maybe a bush with ears for leaves (although even just the thought of it seems time consuming)!

An ear bush sounds really interesting, I'd have to come up with some technique that combined the two elements, but stayed true to looking like a bush.

have you seen miyazaki's nausiica? i think a forest really far away will look great... its only my opinion

I do love Miyazaki's work, but I haven't seen Nausiica yet. Maybe I'll go rent it for inspiration.
