Description “Uhm, sir?” The deep voice woke him from his thoughts once more, and Oliver jerked his head up to face it’s owner. “A-ah, hah, sorry. I got distracted.” he chortled a bit awkwardly, before ringing up the order.

“Black coffee... What size was that again?” he asked, ghosting over the keys which held the sizes. “Medium... I’ll need it.” the man commented low, and Oliver laughed awkwardly again. He could practically feel Aurora’s eyes boring into the back of his head as he gave a weak attempt to be compatible with this man.

It was pathetic, and desperate, but did he give a hell? Nope.

“Medium... Alrighty then, that’ll be a whole five dollars and thirty-nine cents.” he piped, and the raven-haired man handed him a five and two quarters. “Name please... W-we’re like a low-class Starbucks.” Oliver explained with a smile, as Mister Gorgeous turned away.

“Nicholas.” he said monotone, before walking to the sidelines. Oliver practically melted. Nicholas, so high-class, so organized. Oddly fitting. “Oliver and Nicholas, sitting in a tree!” Aurora sang from behind him, her small arms wrapping around his waist.

“Shh! Aurora, do you want him to hear us? Jesus, he’d never come back then. He graces this place, Aurora.” Oliver carried on, his usually cool and collect face flushed softly.

Oliver placed a hand on his forehead dramatically. “I don’t know if I could handle it! Like Romeo and Juliet, there would be six murders- including my own.” he hummed, before grinning as Aurora poked his side.

“Oh, shut up. He looks too stiff for you.” “I’m getting pretty stiff myself.” Oliver hummed suggestively, smirking down at the brunette girl. Aurora blushed and slapped his arm slightly. “You’re never gonna see him again you know, you’re just the coffee boy.” she said softly, hazel eyes glimmering softly with the dim lights from the ceiling.

Crestfallen, Oliver had to agree.

“Well, a boy can dream~” he sang softly, before shuffling his way over to the machine, puffing out his cheeks and huffing softly as he filled a medium-sized paper cup, and clicking the lid on.

He then scribbled Nicholas’ name onto the cup in a swirling cursive, and ringed the small bell on the counter. “Nicholas, your coffee is ready!” he called in a low tone of voice, Nicholas turning and raising his thin eyebrows.

“Ah. Thank you.” he said in a baritone voice, taking the cup and casting a small wave over his shoulder, and he exited the shop. Oliver sighed softly and looked at Aurora. “There goes my he~ro!” he sang low, wiping an imaginary tear from the corner of his eye. Aurora rolled her eyes in amusement, and shook her head, curls bouncing slightly.

“What am I going to do with you...” she said softly, and returned to the register. Oliver looked out of the large windows at the front of the shop, and smiled a bit. Nicholas would be back, and next time, Oliver would talk to him.

By the end of the day, Nicholas hadn’t returned to the Spinning Bean for a nice evening cup of coffee. Though it was to be expected; he looked professional, he was probably at work. Oli could only dream of the things that man did.

“Maybe he’s a CEO. Or a manager. If he was my manager, I would come in to work early everyday and even clean up just to get on his good side!” A love-struck Oli said to Aurora as they walked to his car, the shop now closed up at four ‘o clock sharp. “Oli, sweetheart, you’re acting a bit obsessed with a man you’ve only seen once. And, you don’t know his last name.” she said, waggling a finger at a whimsical Oliver.

“So what? Listen, all these little girls fancying these celebrities that don’t know they exist. At least this guy knows I exist. He’s like a Bruce Springsteen in a suit. With shorter hair.” he paused and tapped his chin. “Tanner skin, perhaps. Forget it, anyway...” he trailed off as he got into the driver’s side, Aurora slipping into the passenger seat and reaching for the radio.

“He’s a dark Liam Hemsworth, ‘Rory.” Oliver said suddenly, making Aurora laugh. “Shut up, you’re acting weird. Come on, let’s jam.” Aurora flipped on his CD as Oli started the car, and Lifehouse bled through the speakers. Oliver crinkled his pointed nose softly, and glances over as she sang “You and Me” sweetly.

Relationships didn’t turn out good for him, usually. The inability to voice it made the other significant other offended, or jealous, because they could be. It tore him apart metaphorically, but his father would tear him apart literally.

Being gay was a disease that had no cure, except it wasn’t a disease. It didn’t hurt anybody. It wasn’t cancer, it wasn’t polio, but it still devastated families for reasons unknown. It was sad and low to fall for someone over their genitals rather than their soul.

Oliver shook his head softly, clearing his head before thoughts got way too deep; he had a tendency to do that. Though it was almost damn obvious he wasn’t the average womanizer, Riley and Miranda were too caught up in each other and their economy to worry about it. Oliver suddenly felt a soft poke to his shoulder, and flickered his eyes over to Aurora, who was now quiet and gazing at him.

“You okay? You look like you were thinking.” she said softly, and Oli just smiled a bit. “Yeah, I’m fine. You know how it goes...” he said, looking back to peer out of the wind shield at the road.

Aurora frowned softly, then nodded a bit. Since work was (wonderfully) over for the day, they were on their way to the park. Work started at nine-thirty in the morning, and ended at three in the evening when people stopped buying coffee at corner shops. Which was fine, it gave the employees plenty of flexible time.

Oliver made his way downtown, smiling softly as the small building worked their way into trees and grass. He pulled into a small parking lot that turned off the side of the road, and was sandwiched between a number of baseball fields and basketball courts, and then a playground and track for children and mother, along with the average jogger.  He stood and glanced around, as comfortable spring air warmed his ivory flesh.

Oli crinkled his nose as a breeze blew in, chilling his body as he stayed still. “Oli, what are you waiting on? Let’s go on the swings!” Aurora giggled, and he was broken from his trance.

Oliver grinned and jogged up the path into thick wood clippings, the play sets surrounded by a wooden border. To the left were small slides and climbing ropes, with the baby swings too many teenagers have had to be manually pried from. To the right, was a “bigger” kid play set, the same set up, but with a pole and a slide that swirled instead of going slightly downward. Above those, a primary color, dome jungle gym rested, along with the swings.

All of it was barren, safe for a few boys practicing baseball down at the fields below them. Aurora was immediately on the swing, the short one, Oliver noticed. He snickered softly, plopping down on the rubberized plastic, and began kicking his legs.

He smiled, his mood lifting, and the two began to swing back and forth with each other; gathering momentum and pushing forward, but never going anywhere. “You know,” Aurora began softly, “we should go have a Disney movie marathon, since it’s the weekend and all.” Oliver blinked, and slapped his forehead.

“Right... It’s Friday. Ooo, I am so excited...” Oli giggled softly as he kicked his legs back and forth to gain momentum, and the two were swinging, floating, the old set creaking with age.

“You know, maybe you can be Princess Aurora, and I’ll be Belle.” he grinned cheekily, a sort of young, childlike look to his face. It might have been the way his eyes glittered softly in the evening sun. Aurora had acknowledged Oli was attractive, but the thought had floated away into the atmosphere.

Oliver was gayer than Elton John and Freddie Mercury doing a duet on a rainbow. But he was the best friend a girl could wish for. Not a toy, like some girls said. Wishing for a gay best friend simply because they were interested in boys, and liked dresses, and all that stereotypical garbage.

But it was still fun.

Oliver glanced over at Aurora, then towards the sun over the baseball fields. “Don’t make this easy, I want you to mean it, Jasey~” he sang softly, causing Aurora to curl her top lip up in a soft smile.

“Shut up, you dork...” she hummed softly, and Oli snorted. He flicked a jelled strand of hair from his forehead back into place. “Well, excuse me for fitting the mood with a nice little song.” “Not the time, sweetheart.” Aurora cooed, and Oliver grinned.

“Hm... Come on, let’s go to my place. So we can start on movies.” he giggled like a five-year old told they were going to Disney Land. Aurora paused, then smiled and nodded. “Yeah. Come along.” she smiled, as the duo stood and trekked back down towards his black-and-white car.

Aurora smiled as she watched Oliver, singing Disney songs excitedly, even though they had seen the movies possibly hundreds of times. He was a class-act, and she had no idea how he was going to catch the attention of the current obsession named Nicholas.

I keep having to remind myself you're not nearly as old as I was when I started. You're where you need to be, but not where you could be. How bad do you want to improve?

I admit: this chapter wasn't as good as I would like it to be. I wrote the rest of it while awaiting my love to come back from looking at pictures with her dad.

I would love to improve, and I know it's way too early for me to be slacking off.

Bingo. That's a winner's mentality. The best didn't get there by letting themselves stick with - or God forbid, fall behind - the curve. If you're really willing to work for it, I can help you.
