Description Work in progress - watercolour - 12" x 18"

So... I thought I'd start working on something new this week, to take me away from all the portraits that I've been doing recently.

This piece is a WHOLE lot of fun, and I am thoroughly enjoying the process and watching it come to life. There is still so much more to do, and more detail to add.

Oh, btw... that is liquid frisket on his tusk, soon to be removed.

Thank you! Getting close to completing - but has to have been one of the more tedious pieces I've worked on in quite some time

This looks awesome! Are you using a pen/marker for the dark lines or just a tiny brush with a dark color?

Hi! Thanks so much!! I am only using watercolour, and not so much a tiny brush for the dark lines, but one with a nice point

The detail in this is amazing, and the depth and variety of colour is really cool. Can I ask what type of paper you use? And would I be right in assuming you wet and stretch it before starting a piece?

Hi! Thanks so much! I use Arches watercolour paper, and 300-lb for this one, so no wetting needed - but I do tape it down to my board before working... I really don't want to chance it rippling one bit.
