Description
It's not nearly as bad as some places, but the north storage, sorting, and receiving tracks are a disaster at Argentine. For you NS fans, that's an SD70M-2 sitting back there, #2763. The two units to the left are GP35u models, both dead on their respective track. In the background is the cramped intermodal exchange facility. Soon, it will be moved to a new location south of here in Gardner, KS.
Anyways, getting to the story, much of the major rail operations near KC are actually smack-dab in the middle of the KC metro area, including Argentine, and UP's long flat yard just across the river (reference these two images for a visual), and KCS' territory across the state line in Missouri, among others. In this case, it's Argentine we're looking at, and I-635 runs right through the middle of it, albeit 40 feet above. It makes for great access, but limits you to a few lousy vantage points. A long lens is a great asset to have around this place.

I'm not a NS fan I just live by them, so I have to like them, but thats not ACe, it's a M-2.

I guess you'd be right, since they did order nothing but M-2s, and not the ACes like everyone else.

Well at least NS is finally getting their act together since they are getting ES44AC's now, their first AC units (not counting the MAC's).

Well, they're probably taking the hint from every other Class 1 road on the continent.

They do! Look at how long it took them to order units with short hoods that run short hood forward!

Gotta love those NS SD70ACe's (or any SD70ACe for that matter).
