Thank you ^_^ I was inspired by Cass's Batgirl comics, where sometimes she moves so fast the action happens between the panels, and we just see her finishing a move.

As an old fan I know that well. I remember reading every issue she appeared in before the reboot in 2012, as she'd been my favorite DC character. I definitely preferred her Black Bat look, but that wasn't allowed to last long enough.

Naturally though, and interesting insight into the ideas behind this there.

I prefer the more mysterious face covered look myself, but that seems like it might be more expressive in certain situations.

And yeah i'm working my way through the old cannon nothing against new cannon, but I'm a bit more invested in some of the old canon anyway. It's got my favorite incarnation of Blue Beetle (2006 series), Barbara Gordon as Oracle... lots of good stuff.

Well the main problem with her whole body covering costume is that it robbed her of being recognizable beyond just the suit. Also no visible eyes means that she couldn't express much, like you hinted at. I always loved that incarnation of the character overall, so I don't view that look negatively (or her Hong Kong look), it's just that the Black Bat one has much more personality to it.

I did try reading the New 52 back when it first came out, but I had to give it up once things fell apart. Since Rebirth (that hit in 2017 iirc) it's only become a much bigger narrative mess, as they suddenly decided to bring a bunch of the old canon back up to a certain point, mixed in with the new stuff... So yeah. Ironically the much longer pre-2012 canon is less of a tangled mess where you can actually go back and read things if you want, as well as having plenty of solid stories and not having to wait for new releases. Yeah Oracle was huge, as a character Babs became an invaluable asset to the whole DCU, with everybody referencing her, even Bruce himself coming to her for help. The reboot version can't even compare to that in any way.

ah that makes sense re: expression. I wound up liking the intimidation factor of the face covering mask, but visual expression is really important in a visual medium too.

God. Whatever is going on with the continuity is... I have no clue. I kind of just read the stuff with characters I care about and don't bother trying to piece together big plotlines or crossovers because as you said, its a mess.

For sure, and recognizability, cause if nobody can see who you are (the reader I mean) the odds are you're not gonna be remembered too well.

Yeah, well it's become a lot more of a mess after the reboot. I always read only the titles/characters I liked, or comics which they appeared in. Pretty much how you gotta go about it. 'Cherry picking' your comics.
