Description : Sometimes false winds

: away from the unknown.

And gosh, this piece was born out of these songs in particular:

If you're curious the land texture for the planet is fractal, and my oh my planets are quite enjoyable :Þ
I hope the shadows are improving, I spent perhaps too much tweaking on them - but I think perhaps simplicity succeeded this time.

Are we at ludicrous speed yet?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Inspired by the epic and friendly WALLGOTH wallgoth.deviantart.com/
and perhaps a little bit of Darth Vader (of course)...

Simple concept but it got a really nice feel to it, however the shadow of the planet looks off... For one it is not coming from the light source and how can there even be a shadow on light rays?

Hey, thanks for this feedback. I've been having the most trouble with the shadows of the planets lately - so I'll pay attention to your comment and attempt to rework it!

I actually liked that the planet wasn't that blurry as things close by wouldn't be as blurry as those far away, even at fast speed. But there would not be any shadows on the light rays behind it. However they are a light source themself which should result in a reflection on the planet. Your shading on the plannet sould be like this: Super bright because of direct reflection of the big light -> darkening until it reaches the darkest spot on the side facing away from the light (don't make it any darker as it is!!) -> gradually get lighter again towards the other side through indirect light and reflections of the light rays

On a different note: What if you added another smaller plannet on the top and a huge one of which you only see a bit in the bottom left corner

Here's the new redo. I also boosted some of the bright burgundy colors on the planet to go well with the burgundy + teal in the rest of the piece. Looking better, you think?

Definately!! However I think you could still tweak the shadow just a bit, make the reflective light on the right side a bit less bright (and maybe with more contrast/a harder edge to the shadow and with only a slim crescent of light) and have the same brightness at the top and bottom as those would catch just as much light as the other side

Looks good! Way better than before! I just noticed on tiny other thing though, the light "rays" would be particles or stars that are passing by in the distance, right? In that case you wouldn't see any light rays infront of the big planet
