Description Showcase of the new Stone Tower and the Outpost.

For the poly lovers:
The scene has a total of about 30000 tris.
A Stone Tower, like the one which is getting hit by the shot is about 4000 tris (the model just entered the game. if it causes problems I'll bake it down again). The Outpost on the right side in the background is about 2500 tris.

Some people love to do high-poly meshes and then bake them down to the low polys. Me too. I totally love Sculptris for example. But this is hardly suitable for architecture with sharp corners.
So first I'm modelling the low poly mesh, then I unwrap it and export the UV layout. Then i bake the basic colors of the model, the ambient occlusion, the specular intensity and some parts like a grey-scale displacement map for the stone towers roof pattern.
Then i switch to GIMP, import all the stuff, ask my good fellow www.cgtextures.com about some assistance and do the textures. then i desaturate the texture map and turn it into a bump map. based on that one I finally bake the normals.

After all i set it up for Unity.
