Description Well, "found" is a little misleading as it did come in the mail but I did expect it day as I ordered this well in the pups stage. If your wondering what this is well it goes by several names like the Regal Moth or the Royal Walnut Moth or Regal Walnut Moth. Regardless, its a very interesting species and I strongly hope to mate a pair because their larva are very cool.

Scientific Name: Citheronia regalis
Family: Saturniidae
Subfamily:Ceratocampinae

Much like the Luna Moth this species is usually found in Eastern North America.

You ordered this? From where and can anyone?

I did indeed, though as a pupa but I ordered it from the world's largest Saturniidae site (Or so they claim) here: [link] . And anyone can order as long as whet you are ordering is native to where its going. Since the Regal Walnut Moth is native throughout all of eastern North America you should be fine. I highly recommend paying using Paypal though.

I dream to rear this incredible species! I have just oredered some eggs to a British breeder, I hope I will receive them soon! I had a few eggs 2 years ago and I bred the caterpillars which became huge and impressive but they died just before pupating. I hope I will succeed this year...

Impressive they are! I've only had one emerge so far so I'm hoping another will come out soon so I can attempt to breed them myself. I'm very sorry to hear about your previous larvae and only wish you luck with these new ones!

lol, oh yes you can have butterflies or moths mailed to you, all you have to do is either live in a place they are native or have a permit from the USDA. Now the man I buy from can send them either as an egg or as a pupa (which is a term you can use for butterflies or moths). [link] thats where I have been getting my little guys, though I don't know if they have anything left but I can ask if you'd like me to.

Why, thank you for the link! I dont think at the present time I can handle caring for little pupa or anything like that, but I will ask if it ever comes up. Thank you again!
