But of course, saying that would contradict him asking Ralph whether or not he was going Turbo earlier in the film, thus blowing his cover.
From what I can tell, Turbo probably made up Candy.

*SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT*
It seems more like Turbo made him up. I doubt the castle would have been so pink if there was a legit king instead of Vanellope (though, in such a cutesy game, who knows). Turbo does seem to know his way around code and just designed an avatar to fit in with the world and learned to play the part.
I always think Turbo is a lot smarter than people give him credit for. He was able to sneak into a game unnoticed (or made sure to erase everyone's knowledge of him coming in), sneak into the castle, find the hardware (code) of the game, manipulate it, make a new avatar for himself, put himself in a position of power by kicking out Vanellope, lock away everyone's memory, and assume his position with enough acting skill that no one raised a question and accepted him as ruler. That takes brains to plan that far ahead.
Plus he's a phenomenal actor in his role as King Candy, not only to fool the citizens on Sugar Rush, but to come up with such a realistic scenario as to why Vanellope could not participate in the race. Had me fooled, at least. I honestly thought that was his motivation until Sour Bill came along and said the game would reset in Vanellope raced, which would expose Turbo.
Ruthless, smart, vindictive. No mercy for those who get in his way. He's one of my favorite villains ever so far.
Sorry for such a long rant. I tend to do that a lot.

[Yeah, now that I think about it, he is pretty clever. He should be a major part of the sequel; I barely got to know him.]

I agree that I want more of him, but maybe that's not the best idea. Turbo was actually really fleshed out as a villain (if you include his actions as King Candy)for a Disney movie. I see it better in movies to not have a little mystery surrounding a villain and not have every move, motivation, skill, ect. shown. Yes, that's how you make a compelling character, but it waters down a bad guy (like i said, it's my opinion).
There's a fine line, though, between not revealing enough and revealing too much. If you watch MLP, the new villain, King Sombra, was severely lacking in any characterization, making him seem like an ineffectual villain.
Sorry for the long reply.

[No, it's okay. In fact, I tend to like long replies, as they often show more thought. ]

I agree! Someone asked the director where Turbo went between the time his game was unplugged and the time Sugar Rush was plugged in, and he said that when TurboTime was unplugged, he hid in the shadows of Game Central Station, and learned about codes and stuff up until the time Sugar Rush was plugged in, and he corrupted it before it was even played.

By the way, I love your artwork, both WiR and MLP. Sorry I didn't say so before but, like I said, I tend to ramble about things I geek out about. Turbo is defiantly one of those things.

I think he should have been taken over by Turbo, but it seems he never existed. Too bad, King Candy was very fitting for a Kart Racing game like that: egocentric king with best car and best stats that always finish in first place because fuck you I'm the king.

Lol! He would have been an interesting character to keep around, but for some reason I feel the movie was right in how ended and stuff, it was just a too good movie.

I got the avatar from a screen shot on Tumblr. They should still be floating around within, though I don't remember who posted it.
