Description
Imaginary FriendYoshiki awoke to find himself under the blankets, peeking out from under the blankets he saw Satoshi putting on his school shirt, he ducked back under the covers. Satoshi was happily humming to a tune. Yoshiki giggled under the blankets. The humming stopped as Satoshi turned around, seeing the lump in the bed squirm. Laughter soon escaped from Satoshi as he finished buttoning up his shirt and walked over to Yoshiki.
"Are you awake in there?" Satoshi asked.
"No," Yoshiki replied quickly.
"Hmm...Must be my imagination then," Satoshi giggled as Yoshiki came out from hiding. Satoshi gently run his hand through Yoshiki's scruffy hair.
"You have school...don't you?" Yoshiki asked. Satoshi felt hurt hearing how upset Yoshiki was. It wasn't his fault that he had school but he did feel guilty for leaving Yoshiki alone for most of the time when he was at school. If Satoshi could change it, he could. The only hope at the moment was if the school closed for an unexpected reason. He knew that it probably wasn't going to happen but there really wasn't anything he could do.
"I'm really sorry Yoshiki, you know I have school," Satoshi apologised to Yoshiki. The child put up a bright smile for Satoshi.
"I'll wait for you to ret-" Yoshiki was silenced as his stomach growled. A blush of embarrassment crossed his face; Satoshi couldn't help but laugh seeing the small child of his friend blushing. This would be the first time that he had seen him blushing. Yoshiki buried his face in the blankets, Satoshi slipped his hand under the blankets and took hold of Yoshiki, brining out his best friend out from under the blankets.
"Come on, let's get you fed," Satoshi smiled.
"Okay," Yoshiki smiled happily as Satoshi carried him downstairs. Satoshi smiled happily, remembering one time in Kisaragi when Yoshiki refused to be picked up.
Flash Back Start
"Yeah, you run away!" Yoshiki yelled as a group of bullies sprinted away, Yoshiki brought out a tissue and gently pressed it to his nose where he was punched, unaware if his nose was bleeding. Satoshi ran up to Yoshiki.
"What do you think you're playing at? If Shinozaki finds out you've been fighting again, you'll be in trouble!" Satoshi yelled at Yoshiki.
"Then they shouldn't have been picking on Shinohara!" Yoshiki growled. Satoshi noticed the wobble that Yoshiki did as he took a step forward. It was clear that his body had taken a toll while defending Seiko. She must have been terrified, this was her first attack in the school and it wasn't easy to ignore. Seiko's bubbly personality was dampened because of the attack that Yoshiki saved her from. Despite his own injuries, he still defended her to the best of his abilities. Satoshi saw where Yoshiki was coming from but violence wasn't the answer.
"You are already on the thin line of getting expelled!" Satoshi shouted the first thing which came into his mind. Yoshiki was bordering exclusion, it may have been his second year here but at this rate, he wouldn't last long.
"So I should have left Shinohara to get bullied when I could have done something?!" Yoshiki growled at Satoshi.
"That's why teachers are here, to help students."
"Teachers...I hate teachers, completely useless outside the classroom."
"Ms. Yui isn't like the average teacher, she's the best. She'll listen to her students and help them. She's not like the other teachers here who don't really care about their students, just their grades," Satoshi told him, smiling slightly. Yoshiki gently started to lean on the corridor wall. "You can't walk...can you?"
"I can, I just don't want to," Yoshiki told him, Yoshiki had pride and he wasn't going to let Satoshi damage his pride. He cursed himself for letting himself get so beaten. No, he couldn't show anything, Yoshiki wasn't weak. Yoshiki did his best to walk without showing pain. It was hard seeing as pain shocked through his body with every movement. Satoshi seemed to see through Yoshiki and gently placed his hand on Yoshiki's shoulder and swept him off his feet. Yoshiki froze as worry flashed through Satoshi's eyes, worried about Yoshiki's weight, it was usual for a 17 year old male student.
"You are eating right, aren't you?" Satoshi asked.
"PUT ME DOWN!" Yoshiki roared as he struggled, trying to escape from Satoshi's grip. Satoshi's grip tightened on Yoshiki.
"It'll only be for a little while," Satoshi promised Yoshiki.
"I don't care! Put me down!"
"Kishinuma!"
Flash Back End
Satoshi couldn't help but smile when he saw Yoshiki wasn't struggling in his arms this time. Yoshiki looked to be enjoying it anyway. Yoshiki noticed one of the pictures and gently pointed towards it, Satoshi's attention followed Yoshiki's finger to a large group photo of everyone from Kisaragi Academy the faces of everyone who died had got a large black burnt mark on their faces. It would be impossible to tell who they were thanks to the black mark on their faces.
"What about it?" Satoshi asked the younger male in his arms.
"What are they?" Yoshiki asked. A sad expression appeared on Satoshi's face as memories surfaced of them in Heaven's Host, the fear that the group was shattered in that cursed land.
"They...were my friends," Satoshi told Yoshiki. If Satoshi told a lie, it would be pointless for him and only make him feel worse. Yoshiki was asking a question and he would prefer the truth.
"Were?"
"Yeah, things got complicated and they left."
"But...why remove their faces?"
"I didn't do it..." Satoshi said softly.
"Okay~" Yoshiki chirped happily. Satoshi did his best to smile but it didn't happen.
"Satoshi, time for school," Satoshi and Yoshiki heard his mother calling from the kitchen. Satoshi put Yoshiki down on the sofa. The blond haired chibi looked up at him; the small smile on his face brought a smile to Satoshi's face.
"Okay, I'll be back later Kishinuma-kun," Satoshi gently ruffled up Yoshik's hair before he picked up his bag and headed out. Yoshiki ran up to the door and waved.
"Bye Onii-chan!" Yoshiki called to Satoshi, Satoshi nodded.
"Tell Yuka not to be late," Satoshi called to Yoshiki.
"Okay~" Yoshiki called back before Satoshi left Yoshiki's sight. His excitement and happiness melted away, Yoshiki needed to wait for about 7 hours before Satoshi would be returning home from school, but even then...he would be walking Naomi home first and that would just take longer. Yuka would be going to school soon too, leaving him to try and entertain himself while on his own. Yoshiki dreaded this moment, he didn't like being along in Satoshi's room, he hated it but he had to get used to it. He was Satoshi's brother and that he was going to get used to it. He slowly headed up towards Satoshi's bedroom, Yuka ran past him and left the building, Yoshiki didn't really mind too much, he much preferred Satoshi more than Yuka.
Yoshiki gently pushed open the door and walked inside, he climbed back onto Satoshi's bed to think of something to do. He couldn't really think of anything which could really help him decide quicker. He knew what he needed but without Satoshi with him, his excitement level just decreased. A sigh escaped from his mouth before Yoshiki lay back, staring up at Satoshi's ceiling.
"You look so bored?" A young voice entered Yoshiki's mind. He bolted up straight and looked around the room. That wasn't possible. He was the only person in the room. Satoshi's parents weren't going to ask him that question. Yuka wasn't in the room either; Yoshiki only grew more confused as the room was completely alone. Rubbing his eyes gently, Yoshiki looked around again.
"Who...are you?" Yoshiki asked, trying to muster up enough courage.
"Sorry," the young voice apologised. Yoshiki turned to see where the voice was coming from but couldn't see anything. Fear started to settle into his system as he tried to find the owner of the voice. He struggled to find the owner, he did his best not to bring up tears but it was harder than he expected. Tears made their way to his eyes anyway, threatening to fall from his eyes, down his cheek and then onto the carpet under his feet.
"Where...are you?" Yoshiki mumbled, fear getting the better of him.
"Don't worry, I'm a friend," the voice replied.
"You're my friend?"
Chibi Charm – Imaginary Friend
Satoshi gently sat down at his desk, his bag was placed gently down to the side of the desk. His mind wanted to return home and make Yoshiki smile while he was a chibi, it was easy enough to do and because of that, made it more entertaining to see. If Yoshiki was like this when he was small, he wondered what really happened to make him change drastically. This was before Heavenly Host happened...possibly before he even appeared in Kisaragi Academy.
Ayumi and Naomi watched Satoshi from their seats, seeing Satoshi trapped in his own thoughts wasn't something he would usually do, here he was now, looking out the window with his fogged up eyes. Thankfully their teacher wasn't here yet so they could quickly nab a conversation with Satoshi before class started. Naomi got up from her desk and walked over to Satoshi, hoping to find some answers in what was going on with him. Yoshiki wasn't here, so he was still under the effects of the chibi charm.
Naomi gently placed her hand over Satoshi's shoulder, breaking him out from his day-dream state of mind. He looked up at Naomi and gave a smile. Ayumi made her way over to Satoshi to join in the conversation.
"What's wrong Satoshi?" Naomi asked the student.
"Just...leaving Yoshiki at home is never easy." The student commented before he looked to see Ayumi coming, him feeling like this was kind of her fault. If she didn't try the charm out then none of this would have happened...they wouldn't have found out how happy he was as a child. Something which they had wanted to see for a while, the childish side of the ex-delinquent, he was always so serious to everyone.
"Why?" Naomi asked him as she sat on a nearby desk.
"Well, he always sounds hurt when I go to leave for school."
"Ah, he's guilt tripping you into trying to keep you at home?" Ayumi asked.
"Not guilt tripping, but his whole body language, voice, eyes and his aura wants me to stay at home so he's not on his own anymore."
"I didn't really see Kishinuma to be so dependent on people."
"You've got to remember Shinozaki; he's got the mental age and physical appearance of a 5 year old. Of course he's going to be dependent on people for the time being. When the charm wares off, he'll probably be back to being independent again," Naomi reminded Ayumi.
"She's got a point," Satoshi backed up Naomi's point.
"What's your plan after school?" Ayumi said with a smile on her face. She knew what she wanted to do but she needed to find out if Satoshi had anything planned before she could suggest something.
"Well, I was going to take him to the park and have some ball games, nothing too much," Satoshi said.
"Sounds like you two will be having fun," Naomi giggled.
"I just hope that we do. I know in the past that Yoshiki was really competitive when it came to P.E."
"I heard from Morishige he swung the bat and hit the ball right at him. He only just ducked out the way," Ayumi started laughing.
"Yoshiki did have a murderous look on his face, like he was imagining the ball to be someone he hated," Satoshi laughed. The bell soon rang, everyone returned to their seats as the teacher slipped into the classroom. Satoshi looked behind him at Naomi and Ayumi with a smile on his face before turning his attention towards Yoshiki's seat.
Chibi Charm – Imaginary Friend
Yoshiki felt a tap on his shoulder, looking behind him he saw the owner of the voice. A young girl was standing behind him. Yoshiki took note that she was just below the average height and looked to be below the average weight for someone her age. He took note that she had brown hair which was put back into pigtails and two crystal blue eyes and light skin.
"Hi," She spoke in a shy manor. Yoshiki backed away from her slightly while looking at her yellow long sleeved sweater with the small flower design. She wore an orange skirt which reached her knees. It clicked when Yoshiki realised who it was. She was the ghost he saw at the park. In a split second, Yoshiki dove under the covers of Satoshi bed.
"Don't hurt me!" Yoshiki's cry of fear was muffled from the covers.
"I'm not going to hurt you," She told him, she couldn't help but giggle at the 5 year old hiding in the covers. She gently skipped over to the covers and pulled them up. She could easily see Yoshiki's grey eyes staring back at her. He blinked a few times before he crawled away from her.
"I saw you at the park...Why were you there?" He asked, brining up enough courage to ask her the question.
"Well...I went there to see if I can contact you, wanted to ask if I could play with you."
"But...your appearance...was different..."
"I'm sorry I scared you. You felt really lonely even with your friends there. I thought it'll be fun to play with you."
"Why did...you pick me?"
"Well, you're the only child here. And children are more likely to see the supernatural and your imagination also gave me a ticket here."
"I...brought you here?"
"You asked for a friend, I'm exactly what you asked for," Yuki smiled happily at Yoshiki. Yoshiki wasn't sure if he should have believed her but he didn't exactly have much choice. A friend is a friend and there wasn't going to be anything to change it. He just needed to deal with the fact that Yuki was there to play with him.
"Okay then...let's play?"
Chibi Charm – Imaginary Friend
Satoshi brought out his keys and unlocked his home. Pushing the door open, he walked inside. Satoshi knew that his parents weren't going to be home yet and Yuka would be arriving any time soon. Yoshiki was going to be the only one here so he expected the little toddler to come running up to him and jumping at him.
"Yoshiki, I'm home!" Satoshi called and then waited. The soft sound of footsteps started to echo around the building. Satoshi smiled when Yoshiki came running towards him.
"Welcome home Onii-chan!" Yoshiki yelled and jumped at Satoshi with a smile on his face.
"How are you doing?" Satoshi asked him, ruffling his hair. Yoshiki giggled.
"I made a new friend~" He sang happily.
"Oh, what's their name?"
"Her name is Yuki."
"Yuki's her name?"
"Yeah, she's the ghost I met in the park," Yoshiki giggled. Satoshi froze. So, it was once of the ghost children from Heavenly Host who came back to toy with Yoshiki. That wasn't good. Satoshi quickly searched Yoshik's body for any injuries in which Yuki could have put on him. Yoshiki giggled as Satoshi searched him, he wasn't sure why he needed to be searched but it looked like it made Satoshi happy.
"She didn't hurt you, did she?" Satoshi asked him in a stern voice.
"No? We played Cludo, Uno, we talked and made lots of jokes, she's really nice," Yoshiki spoke happily. Satoshi backed down slightly, it she didn't hurt Yoshiki there wasn't really much threat she held for him then.
"Well...sounds like you had a lot of fun with Yuki..."
"I did, we had so much fun."
"Well, that's really all that matters, right?" Satoshi asked him. Yoshiki nodded before he was put down on the floor.
"Yup~"
"Want to play some ball games in the garden?
"Yes!" Yoshiki giggled, Satoshi smiled as he walked outside into the garden in order to go and get the few ball games they had available. Yoshiki ran after him and Satoshi passed him a football (soccer ball). Yoshiki gently kicked the football back to Satoshi with the smile on his face.
"Do you...remember anything before you woke up the way you do now?" Satoshi gently asked him.
"I know you're my Onii-chan," Yoshiki said.
"Anything else you remember?" Satoshi asked him. He couldn't bring himself to lie in front of Yoshiki, he wasn't even sure that he remembered much. He didn't act like he remembered much; there wasn't much he wanted to tell Yoshiki.
"No...Not really?" Yoshiki asked confused.
"Okay, are you up for playing for a few hours?"
"Sure," Yoshiki smiled. "I can play with you and then while you're at school, I can play with Yuki."
"Yeah...that works."
Chibi Charm – Imaginary Friend
Satoshi and Yoshiki were in his bedroom, Yoshiki watched Satoshi sort out his bed after Yoshiki messed up the covers while hiding from Yuki. The room was a small tip but it wasn't in a terrible state that it wasn't possible to move in. Satoshi sighed at the messy room before he looked at Yoshiki. Yoshiki watched Satoshi with his cute eyes, reflecting the light from the bedside table. Satoshi smiled at him, making room for Yoshiki to sleep in his bed if he so wished.
"But...you gave me my own bed..." Yoshiki asked, reading Satoshi's actions.
"Come on, I know you want to be snuggled up with me," Satoshi giggled. Yoshiki smiled and climbed into Satoshi's bed with him. Yoshiki snuggled up close to Satoshi in the bed, Satoshi held Yoshiki close to him, seeing the small toddler yawn and close his eyes. Yoshiki drifted off to sleep so quickly, Satoshi was jealous. He shook his head.
"Sleep tight Yoshiki, your big brother loves you," Satoshi whispered before he settled down to get some sleep too.
