Chapter 4

"Oh…hey honey…" Hiroshi looked up to see his mother sitting at the breakfast table. It had been three days since Hiroshi had seen the illusion at school, but it was strange to see his mother sitting at home at this time.

"Are…you okay?" Hiroshi asked her.

"No, I'm not okay…" She admitted to him. Hiroshi sat down at the table and reached for the box of cereal and a bowl. "I've been bitten…by what must be bed bugs. I didn't think it was possible here…but there we go."

"Bed bugs?" Hiroshi asked confused. It didn't seem possible…but with what's happened in his life nothing seemed impossible.

"Yes…come and see this…" Hiroshi watched as his mother rolled up her sleeve to show him the bug bite. There on her upper arm was a dark blue, very angry looking bite mark. Hiroshi froze. Blue was associated with the creature from the mansion. Hiroshi felt his blood run cold as it drained away from his face. He did his best to stop himself from shaking. "Hiroshi?" She asked him.

"Y-yes?" Hiroshi stuttered as he continued to stare at the bug bite. His mother rolled down her sleeve to hide the bug bite.

"You've gone really pale…"

"I'm late for school!" Hiroshi shot up from the table and ran off to his room leaving his mother confused at the breakfast table.

Hiroshi was uneasy through the whole day after that. Seeing the bug bite on his mother made Hiroshi search his body for any bites too. He didn't have any which he thought was strange if the creature wanted him to return to the mansion. Hiroshi breathed a sigh of relief to see that he didn't have any bites but his mother did…it made him worried about her. What if the creature was targeting her? Or both his parents? Could the creature kill them if they never went to the mansion in the first place? Or was…Hiroshi pushed that thought out of his head. He didn't want to think it was him being there was affecting them. There was always that possibility.

"Is…that really possible…?" Hiroshi asked himself as his mind kept turning over the thought along with throwing in new ideas and fears of what the monster could do. He didn't think that there was anything that could cause the bites…unless there was something at home? That would explain why everything was happening…but at the same time how could the monster survive outside the mansion?

"Come…back…" The whisper spoke once more. Hiroshi's body tensed up before his mind suddenly decided that it wanted to go and see the mansion. The plate shard remained in his bag along with the empty lighter and the screwdriver and the other head that he found in the mansion. First thing to do though was to go home and try and find what bit his parents.
