Description I would like to introduce Zee. Its been a while since I drew something that wasn't related to projects/trades/commissions.... anyway! I've been reading a little paper back book about ancient Greek symbols and creatures. This particular one is a Icthyocentaur (a fertility symbol that appeared with other sea life).

The internet has told me upon further investigation:

The Icthyocentaur has the torso, arms and head of a human, the tail of a dolphin and the forelegs of a horse or lion. This is the aquatic version of a centaur.

So Zee is a rough interpretation.... >.> I think hes cute....

Never heard of one! But now that I have, I'm totally intrigued! I love the idea, especially since you portray him looking so good! Those ears are adorable...

I like his hairstyle as well. how long have you had this character?

I want to play with his ears! I know they don't make a great deal of sense on an aquatic creature but.. I can't help it. I've been working off and on with sketches and finally this piece for the better part of a month and a half or so. I was finally satisfied that this was good enough to post.

Oooh I love reading up mytholgical/fantasy creatures.

He's really pretty! I never knew there was such a combination like that. A water centaur sounds strange but the way you drew him looks adorable.
I have to look this up now, hee

Loving all the colors and details put into the background and water.

This is awesome. <3

I'm usually not one for backgrounds. They have thwarted me on many occasions but I think this is one piece that I some how managed to visualize in its entirety. I think he turned out pretty cute. Not sure what I should do with him though... aquatic creatures have such issues branching out into projects for me.

At any rate! There are surprisingly few images of icthyocentaur on the internet. My guess is the combination just doesn't really spark a whole lot of interest for a lot of people. I worked mostly from a description of them from my mythology book but I found the mural that is in the book though!
