Description A piece I did for a potential client for a comic book. I didn't get the job, but I'm happy with it anyway.

That looks fantastic!

I'm sure the job was turned down because of a clash of styles, not for lack of talent.

only thing I have trouble with is the object in the foreground [I can see how it's needed, I just can't tell if it's an extreme closeup of the big fish's tail or another animal]

But great work, none-the-less

Yeah, that darn foreground object! It give me and everyone else trouble. It's a sub with an octopus-dude inside. I was trying to make it look shiny and transparent, but it just ended up all confusing. I think I might wipe it out or redo it in a later version when I get a portfolio ready.

I'm glad you like it, thanks for the comment!

i always liked monsters eating... things! and i like the ocean too, especialy when it gets that green tone. the light in that creature (not the scary monster, the other) coming from the surface

>__________> holy shit why havent i seen this before, this is one of your strongest pieces! how did i miss it there is an awesome looseness to this that you should seriousely try to capture again, this is excellent, try applyign the technique to your other paintings, it may take you quiet a distance.

*gapes* Lord, why don't pieces like this get more recognition?

This is one of your strongest pieces I've seen... and since you've made it your featured Dev, you know it's awesome too. Your brush work engages the eye and leads it across the composition so smoothly! Love the creature design and the use of red. The shape of the sub was a little confusing... since it's the same-ish palette as the dragon, I thought at first glance that it was either part of the same animal or one of it's offspring.

Well done!

Thank you SO much! I felt kinda bad that it not only didn't get me the position, but wasn't getting much attention at all. I'm happythat you like it, and I totally agree about the sub. I changed its colors about 5 or 6 times, trying to find something that didn't clash, but that stoof it apart. I eventually tried to make it metallic (and thus have it look blue under the water), but it's still very much one of those things that's bugging me. When I have the time, I will tweak it some more.

a stingray-like submarine thing.

Oh ok. Looks cool. A blur effect on it would make it stand more from subject, make it all 3-D-ish.

amazing....really. The blood is really well drawn (though I feel bad for that creature, gotta hurt ) and the colours are perfect along with shading and lights. It looks very deep...simply great. If you didn't get the job, I wonder who did.
