Description So here a render of the former hover tank. Added some minor things, like APS launcher tubes on the back of the turret and another laser sensor on the top of the turret.
kind of an double post, but anyways. I like the simple renders, so I'd thought I'd share...
a bit of an explanation here: [link]

Hey there and sorry for the late reply, was kinda busy...
No it's a personal design from me, so it could be used. What kinda game are you developing?
And what do you mean with the last question, sorry. It's a 3d model and I can make pictures from whatever angle I want, Vray is only the rendering program. Did that answer your question?

Likewise, I'm sorry i didn't see this until now as I haven't been getting on Deviant for a while.
You did answer my question and that is great to hear about it being 3D.  I'm developing a tactical wargame (a few actually that I hope to tie in together for one major strategy game).
As such, I have developed some pieces (a tank among them) and your hover tank caught my eye while trying to visualize what I would want the piece to look like in real life and maybe get some artwork done to enhance the rulebook and box a bit more as well as the website which is now a work in progress.
If you are interested in the work please contact me at: jbiggs@prodigygameworks.com .
Thanks,
John

Hm... this is a random suggestion, but i think you should make a cube and see how much detail you can add on to it while keeping it a cube, something tells me it would be interesting...

hahaha!
definitely dig the idea! love it! Now I only need to think of cube formed thing with a function...
Really love the approach! Thanks!

flaketom In reply to Mechatherium [2011-05-31 05:53:37 +0000 UTC]

Well it's not actually an hovertank in the original meaning of hover, as it 'flies' with the aid of six thrust vents.

I just like that hovertank! Can You make something like that, but more:
a) Dieselpunk style
b) Heavier, like i.e. Mammoth tank from C&C (two barrels, maybe some side sponsons with heavy machineguns...)

rone01 [2011-05-18 01:53:31 +0000 UTC]

Love how it looks, I just think all the grills would give infantry a lot of handholds to be able to board it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flaketom In reply to rone01 [2011-05-18 08:21:50 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! You're totally right about that one, but as they cover the air intakes and thrust vents, I opted for them instead of armor plates, also it saves weight. And then you first have to come close to board it, and then todays AT-weapons, are mostly long range weapons, if I remember it right.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rone01 In reply to flaketom [2011-05-18 11:28:41 +0000 UTC]

On an open battlefield the grills would definitely offer protection more than nothing. I was thinking more in an urban environment, without the threat of getting turned into paste by treads more people might be inclined to try to jump on. Even if they couldn't get in a lot of the sensors on the turret might be susceptible to damage. On the other hand there's nothing to say that when in enemy territory those grills could be electrified. Anyway I still think it's a great looking design

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flaketom In reply to rone01 [2011-05-19 06:55:09 +0000 UTC]

As it's an unmanned drone, getting in is not the problem, but you're right about destroying the sensors. Hmmm. So let them grills be electrified . Good one

MechaTrav In reply to flaketom [2011-05-18 08:28:32 +0000 UTC]

Flaming 8balls on the front nacelles with the flames roaoring towards the back, yes.

And winter camo probably wouldn't go too well on this one, I agree.
