Awesome. Where to start. I love the way her hair frames her face, including the bangs. This sets the stage for the artistry within the frame. The curvature of the cleaning swipe reminded me of the Taeguk from the Korean flag (the yin-yang symbol in the center). Of course, that half of her lips are red also adds to that effect.
I also like the matching lipstick and nail polish. The minimal number of colors used in this piece only adds to its power, I think. One might be tempted to equate the four colors (black, white, red, flesh) with the four elements of a bygone era.
Her facial expression (wide open eyes, mouth forming an "O") is almost one of surprise, as if she is astonished at what lies beneath the heavy makeup.
Very well done. Beautiful model.

This absolutely beautiful and striking. By choosing to 'curve' the neutral portion of the model's face rather than going half-and-half a la Mulan, you provide a somewhat different idea of contrast than the usual makeup vs neutral argument that tends to accompany this sort of art. The curve of the cleaned skin across her face draws attention to the contrasts and compliments present in the picture: the makeup highlights her eyes and cheekbones as well as the natural curve of her nose and lips; the lively, vivid red of her lipstick and nails pops against the burnished gold of her skin and the pale snow of her foundation; the smoothness of her soft, unblemished, and gleaming skin; the brightness of her dark eyes and the shine of her hair against the shadows across her delicate throat.
Mika appears as both a lovely porcelain doll and a naturally gorgeous woman, and the curved shape of the neutral face takes away from the idea that either is wrong, but rather presents that both are acceptable and beautiful. Either way, Mika remains a breathtakingly gorgeous, sensual, and sweet woman. The slightest of hesitation in her eyes is clear, and all the more captivating as a result:"Do you accept me? Can you accept me? Am I not pretty both ways?" This is an example of photogrhy at its finest, with just the right combination of lighting, angle, and expression to catch and hold the eye and interest of the viewer.

There's a certain nice irony to the fact that the "natural" part of the face is quite clearly as heavily made-up as the rest! As they say, it takes a lot of work to look natural...

I think this is an interesting image, not because the concept is so unique, but the way you've executed it is really engaging and sets you apart from other photographs I've seen similar to this. Usually people tend to do the "half n' half", where it's makeup on one side of their face, and a neutral face on the other, but you've curved right across the face here, which makes for a far more interesting image, as well as an interesting message that the line between "artificial" and "natural" often run into one another, not necessarily a stark contrast decision of one over the other. To me, this sort of breaks up the typical "make up is bad and wrong and only done for superficial purposes" and actually makes for a more thought provoking scene that is more open to interpretation. The curve is also really nice and brings attention all around the model's face, instead of focusing on sides.

For me, this is a beautiful and impressive image; both the concept and execution are splendid. The sharp edge between the painted areas and the "no make-up" area of her face, the lighting just enough for us to read that her face is framed by her hair, the red on lips and nails and her expression all seem to ask me what is real and what artifice. Of course, the model is very lovely too. Thank you for posting this - I love it.

That's actually very very beautiful and touching. You can think a lot about our current beauty standarts - and even about our own inside being - just by looking at it. Great job!
