Description
Can you remember what it was liketo walk barefoot
and not worry about shredding skin on shards of broken glass?
Now we dance in blood baths and parade crimson footprints in front of thousands.
Can you remember what it was like
when a trip to the beach
was more than an eternity of waste ripping up aluminium shores?
We’re still recycling things that weren’t ours to start with.
Can you remember what it was like
when being free
meant to love and do as you pleased.
Money spent is liberty gained.
Can you picture your children
knowing that they were born flawed
and valuing that beauty is made of plastic, money and alteration.
Purity has been bullied by our compulsion to reach perfection.
Can you remember what it was like
when the dream to be a bird
didn’t include the threat of guns and colliding with walls of architecture.
Now that we’ve exhausted our space we’re moving into others.
Can you imagine what it would be like
to witness the demise of a helpless planet
from another condemned to the same future?
Nothing is safe from a race of wasters under the impression that they rank above God.
