Lost, confused and high.
Like the first monkey shot into space, I am the mannequin who tests your car for faults.
"Huston we have a problem"
This programme is running out of resources
I’ve crashed straight through ground control
I am unreachable.

Screaming out but my voice is lost in the static
A few disjointed words are all that can be made out
But wait
Who is this?
What is this?
This enigma that is placed in a universe of nothing
The only sequin left on the backdrop
of this play we insist on continuing to act
Regardless that we’ve driven away the audience
who are now standing idle at the bar
Drowning in alcohol.
Apart from one.

There’s a girl sitting on a bench
long after the stinging winter cold had driven everyone inside
She’s staring up into the sky
wishing upon a star
just waiting for something to reach out and pick her up
she wants to be complete
So she closes her eyes
tightly shut, but with little effort
She feels something brush against her neck
cold at first,
But then she feels herself being pulled towards something
towards a star
As she gets closer it burns deeper through her
as if it were reading her soul
She felt herself unfold in front of this vivid utopia
and just before she’s ready to explode, she realizes:

This, this enigma
this sequin
this star
is you.
