My fan-evolution chart for the newly revealed generation 6 Fire-Starter Pokemon, Fennekin.
the made up names for the first and second evolution are:
Kodios (Ko (Japanese for Fox)-Dios (Spanish for "God") An interesting little trait I wanted to establish was that Kodios is a god-in-progress esentially. The floating stones show the japanese symbol for "Fire", and as Fennekin's 2nd form, I gave Kodios an additional tail, and additional 'wing' of fur on the hind legs.
and Kitsudios (Kitsune (A Mythical shape-shifting creature that natively takes the form of a fox)-Dios (Spanish for "God"). For Kitsudios I wanted to establish a full-fledged transformation, eyes paled out with divine energy, a dominant mane, and an additional tail and hind-leg 'wing' of fur. I also wanted to make it clear that the floating stones were fully established as relics for Kitsudios. The 4 Symbols mean Fire, Strength, Courage and Wisdom.

While that is true, it has taken on an additional connotation in Japanese myth and folklore as a magical fox-like being. You can read about it here [link] .

Yeah, but not so much in everyday conversation. Every time I hear the word, I don't think straight to the myths and such. Unlike the word Tanuki, I dunno why for that but not the other since they go hand in hand in folklore.

I love this, but I'd just like to point out that Ninetails is already based off of the Kitsune - from some research I've done I believe in some stories, the Kitsune had nine tails.

Kitsune (the mythical creature) can have up to 9 tails but they don't all have 9 tails. The more tails they have the more wise they are. I believe they get more tails after they are 100 years old.

I think you'll find Zorua and Zoroark more accurately portray the kitsune.

I looks more like a wolf now which is good, we still have traditional chinese zodiac fire types. Hopefully the evolutionary path is like this. Well done.

Not gonna lie, I finished drawing the sketch of Kitsudios on paper and was like..."Hey it looks like that Wolf with the disc on its back."

Okami is the greatest wolf ever created in art and game. so a pokemon with a little okami in it could only make it better.
