Description

It's been a really long time. College has swept me up in a never ending tide of deadlines and readings and essays and stress that has taken away all my attention from any creative outlets. Thus, I haven't submitted any art in about... seven months? I feel the need to create, to do something that's going to change up my routine a little bit. I've been stuck in a rut, or else running on the same hamster wheel that keeps turning and turning despite my numerous attempts to disembark or at the very least slow it down. These past seven months have been challenging to say the least, not only because of college and work, but because my mental state has seemingly deteriorated into something unrecognizable, even for me. Well, that might be a slight hyperbole.

I suppose my point is that I miss posting stuff here, and in turn, I miss having time to create things - to write, to take photographs, to draw something other than mindless doodles in my notes before class starts. So... I'm going to do the same thing I did last year when I was in a similar situation... post something every day in May.

I have an enormous backlog of photos, ranging all the way back to October that I’ve wanted to post. Today’s is one that I took back in November in Becket, Massachusetts. Hence the snow. Does it represent the road I’ve come down since then, or the one I’m heading down now? I dunno, to be honest. You decide!

(yes, I know I take lots of photos of roads but i just find them symbolic).

I know what you mean about the stress and workload of college. Life got so much easier after I graduated and joined the work force. Not only did I have money but once you're done for the day, you're done. No home work or writing or reading. Hang in there, it will get better.

Thanks. I've often thought that school would be so much more effective without homework. Yes, you want to be able to apply what you've learned from the day's lessons, but at the same time, you need down time! I think this more so applies to high school and earlier, though, since at least in college you get breaks in between classes.

I think home work is definitely necessary for subjects like math and science, especially in college. I think some high schools in my area have moved away from assigning homework though.

That's true. I guess I just wish there was less of it? I'm just remembering having to stay up until midnight or 1am almost every night in high school just to get it all done, which isn't as bad as it could be, but nevertheless took a toll.

Wow, that is a lot for high school. I spent a lot of nights up late working in college but that was mainly because of procrastination.

Well, to be fair, I did plenty of that as well (still do, to be honest). :S

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?

Lol, I sometimes wish I could think like that.

It's a skill that requires practice.
