From ProjectComment
This is really an impressive piece. Obviously you are very well versed in watercolor; the way you make the different objects have different textures, while still holding to strong lighting makes for a stylized, but still very clear and enjoyable piece. The dog you drew is very adorable and you did a nice job of capturing this. Judging from the tennis ball it is a rather small dog.
I'm personally not very familiar with watercolors; and I also had a bit of trouble to locate the original picture, so if due to those factors I say/assume something stupid, I do apologize.
Although your shading/lighting does a very nice job in conveying the form of the animal you portray, I do feel there are a few things that feel off in the structure. For example, judging from the eyes I'd say we're looking down on the dog's head, but his snout (especially his nose) is looking a bit off to me in perspective. I also think there could be a bit more definition to his mouth, it's a bit tricky to distinguish at the moment what he's doing with the tennis ball; I'm assuming his biting into it, but the mouth area is too undefined to make it out for sure.
While the lighting on the dog is really impressive, I feel like more attention could be paid to the (back)ground of the piece. Although you did give it a bit of a pattern to allow for something interesting, I'm not quite sure it lines up properly with your dog's lighting to make it a believable surface for the dog and perhaps there could be a bit more in the background to compliment your image further. Compared to the image of the dog the background looks rather flat and uninteresting; while this does not take attention away from your focal point it also doesn't really emphasize the viewer towards this focal point and it feels rather empty.
Still this is definitely a very impressive piece; it shows your knowledge of form and lighting and although it's based on a photo you did a wonderful job of adding your artistic flair to the image and make the result your own interpretation. It makes for an interesting experience for the viewer. I hope my comment will be useful to you to further improve your skills!

Awww, thank you for such a long comment! I did not really expect it to come
I guess you are right, shading is a little fit off, it was quite hard to stick to it, especially with watercolors, and the technique, I just could not shift the color after making it dark, so I just tried to kind of make it look at least a bit on point. It is a puppy of american amstaff, actually, all dogs are quite small when young
I havent really noticed the problem with mouth area until you pointed that out for me, thank you! You are also right with the backgroung, to be honest at that point I just wanted to finish it sso I just took one color and.. this is how it turned out
Thank you one more time for your comment and I hope that you have a wonderful day!

Oh, you're very welcome! I'm glad you found my comment somewhat helpful; like I said, I'm not experienced at all with watercolors, so I'm not quite sure what the possibilities are in that field.
Your piece does still look amazing, so keep up the good work! And I hope you have a wonderful day as well

this is very cute, and i love your use of color! the background leaves a bit to be desired, but i absolutely suck at backgrounds, so you honestly did better than i would in that respect. the brighter colors draw the eye exactly where the piece is at its best, the eyes, ball, and fur, and the subtle shading on the ball is highly commendable. you did a great job and you should be really proud of this piece!!
