Nope, no stuffing or mounting. The only thing extra is his eyes which are hand-blown glass taxidermy eyes.

Hahahah! Jeffrey!!!
I love the names people give the little duckies! I have Benjamin! I wonder what Katrine named hers...?

FossilFeather In reply to Zhon [2009-12-30 22:16:31 +0000 UTC]

She named him Frank. Do you have any pictures posted of your Benjamin? I've been through your gallery a few times before but I possibly overlooked him.

I see you have long nails like me too
Mine are fairly strong, but they always succumb when I'm trying to free my sharpener of chipped pencil lead

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2009-12-07 22:13:31 +0000 UTC]

My nails' strength is their flexibility, however, they do break in cold, dry weather or sometimes when I'm slicing vegetables, I'll catch one of them with the knife and it slices right into it. Better the nail than my actual finger though, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2009-12-07 22:24:48 +0000 UTC]

yeah, you regrow nails at least My nails grow abnormally fast in the summer I like them long though, much more useful while working with sculpey

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2009-12-07 22:33:52 +0000 UTC]

I love long nails too. They're wonderful tools! :love"

They used to really get in my way when I'd be sculpting but I've gotten so used to working with them and using them during the sculpting process, I've found that when sculpting without them I am at a loss!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2009-12-07 22:46:41 +0000 UTC]

Screw all those expensive tools, the best are my own hands & whatever I have lying around myt room at the given time, I find...

Whats most annoying is when I'm potting my many cacti, & their grainy, sandy soil gets jammed under my nails... Owww O.o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2009-12-07 22:55:51 +0000 UTC]

Lol, agreed! I've long since looked at those fancy, expensive sculpting tools and just rolled my eyes. Mine are built in and completely free!

Ew... I hate getting sand and crumbs under my nails and will pick at it until it's removed.

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2009-12-09 22:02:56 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, I love that term used for nails... My friend calls me "sharky/sharkbite" cause of my braces, & how they give me an extra row of "teeth", like a shark... She refers to my actual teeth as the built in set Random peice of useless info there

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2009-12-18 21:39:40 +0000 UTC]

Ha, I never thought of braces like shark teeth before but they do have kind of the same concept. My sister has braces and is almost to get them off.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2009-12-18 22:43:39 +0000 UTC]

Yep, the double rows of teeth do have a threatenig edge... I envy her, I can't wait to get mine off
I'm going onto the "elastics" stage next... If your sidster hasn't been throught that, it means I have to hook on two tiny elastic bands onto my braces

Just a dog related query, seeing as Samoyeds are related to huskies and it seems to be only huskies that are doing this, do you think I could teach my Samoyed this trick: [link] ?

I know the people's voices are a bit.... Ehh, but this dog was the best at saying it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2009-12-30 22:45:49 +0000 UTC]

I don't know too much about Samoyeds but seeing as they are a Nordic breeds, I'd say with some patience, you probably could. My dog is a German shepherd/Norwegian Elkhound and we taught him to say "I love you". It's not quite as high pitched as that husky but he's got the three syllable aspect to it really well.

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2009-12-30 23:29:39 +0000 UTC]

Aww, Kruger is too cute! I love both of those breeds

I visited a Samoyed breeder today, shes so great! The litter was born on Xmas eve, & the parents were such sweethearts, the dad was nothing but huggles and slobbers They've been proofed for hip dysplasia, & have qualified for Crufts for life. I know I wanted a working dog, but hers are wonderfully healthy & happy, so I can't ask for more, & theres very few Sam breeders in Ireland.

The Sam breeder said something that I think can be applied to training the I love you, "With both men and dogs, the trick to training them, is to make them think that its their idea"

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2010-01-08 17:37:44 +0000 UTC]

Wow!! I'd love to be surrounded by a huggly and and slobbery family of Sammies! Did you get any pictures?

"With both men and dogs, the trick to training them, is to make them think that its their idea" Lol, what a great quote. She's absolutely right though!!

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2010-01-08 20:14:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, with my phone.... I'm gong to find out if I can get the shot online, its so cute, is just the mum, with all the wriggley Samoyed puppy sausages (thats what they look like ) curled up into her

I know! I love the quote too, I'm going to make it my comment signature.... Hehe

Oh! & theres no school until Thursday over here!!! Bcause of the heavy snows expected... I can't wait to make SnowSamoyeds & Snow Hares

I'm hoping to take this break to go back to the art gallery with the artist wh's bronzed hare skeleton is there, & ask him if I can take photos of it (with my actual camera this time, not my phone) & post them here, clearly stating tht its his work & that. I'll let ytou know if I'm allowed!!

FossilFeather In reply to HawthornHare [2010-01-28 19:11:42 +0000 UTC]

Any luck with taking photos of the bronzed hare skeleton?

HawthornHare In reply to FossilFeather [2010-02-14 13:37:37 +0000 UTC]

Not yet, but they're holding an exhibition in a month in the Crawford Art Gallery, so I hope to find the guy there. I'd also love to find out about using bronze.... Yet another thing for me to get into

Aww adorable! So I don't fully understand freeze-drying - are those the original eyes and if so, how do they stay so, er, fresh? lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to DustyVinci [2009-12-07 22:02:56 +0000 UTC]

I don't understand freeze drying either and I was actually wondering that exact question about his eyes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Rhe-Pixels In reply to FossilFeather [2010-07-30 07:06:43 +0000 UTC]

If he was dried out I think he probably has false eyes. Most of your eye is actually liquidy Although I'm assuming freeze drying actually constitutes drying... since you never know with these things XD

DustyVinci In reply to FossilFeather [2009-12-07 22:05:29 +0000 UTC]

XD poke them!

FossilFeather In reply to DustyVinci [2009-12-07 22:11:48 +0000 UTC]

I brushed against them lightly and they didn't seemed hard enough. He's from 2006 so I figure if they were going to rot or disintegrate, it would have already happened.

So cute and adorable. I'm sorry to hear he died. Freezedried for preservation? what does that mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FossilFeather In reply to Kentcharm [2009-12-07 21:57:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I'm not sure. I still need to look into exactly what the process is to freezedry something. I just know that once something has been freeze dried and is kept away from moisture and bugs, it will last for a very, very long time.
