“You screwed up again didn’t you? What was it this time; a land mine?”
“No, that was last time. This time it was a truck.”
“I cant believe you. Every bloody time. How many is it now?”
“I dunno, six maybe seven, I wasn’t really paying attention.”
More sarcasm, more failures, more banter. It was all and endless cycle.
“Well you better play bloody attention. Cos’ I’m not gonna let you hang around here for all eternity”
Funny that, considering that this place IS eternity, or so peter would have us believe. St Peter that is. He’s not such a bad bloke, the good book tells it all really. Sure he had that rooster incident, but when you have forever to smooth things over, it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. I looked around, nothing had changed. Then again, with white on pure white décor as far as the eye could see, that wasn’t much of a surprise. Most people would understand this place to be purgatory, there weren’t and lost souls waiting for atonement here though. The boss canned that one after the western world went secular. Anyone who rated basically got a free ticket. Then of course you have me.
