Phew, so much work with this... I'm beat.
Okay, so I didn't plan on revealing these two for some time, but what the heck. This is a Fenton&Phantom (like brothers) series of mine, which is not to be confused with FentonxPhantom (Pitch Pearl, and if (when) I draw them they're gonna be dressed canon), or Fenton/Phantom (the same person). Hey everyone's doing it, I'm just jumping on the wagon

First I planned on doing a story or comic to reveal their background, but since that story only has a beginning but not end... meh.

So, for those who wanna know, my version of how these two came to be:
It all begins when the Fentons install a ghost alarm system for the school and Danny finds out he can't pass it... the hard way. After a lot of debating with his friends (cuz they can't just deactivate it, it keeps all the kids safe after all), and when the Fentons start talking about installing it at home too, they decide to reveal the secret.

The Fentons take it surprisingly well, and agree the best option would be to use the Dream Catcher to separate Fenton and Phantom when Fenton goes to school. It's a bit weird, but soon everyone (even Maddie and Jack) get used to two Dannys (and two sons) for a few hours of the day. Then Jack fumbles something up in the lab while Phantom's there, and in the resulting explosion some of the Ecto Dejecto (used on Dani) gets in Phantom's bloodstream and turns him full ghost.

Now we have two permanent Dannys, both afraid of a possible Dan-to-be. So Maddie does some tests, and comes up with this solution:
There is absolutely no way for Dan to exist. When they used the Deam Catcher, Fenton (fearing Dan) always left all bad emotions for himself, leaving Phantom with positive ones. Fenton will be a moody teenager for a while, but he'll recover and get his other emotions back, like all humans do, even after a trauma. But ghosts have 'default' emotions from which they can deviate only briefly, and while usually it's anger or need for revenge (or friend, like Klemper), Phantom only holds good ones. Problem solved.

Soon people get used to two Dannys (again), Fentons grades get better and Phantom can better protect the town. Annd there are many cute family moments (d'aww~) But then Fenton starts to feel the need to protect again (and he gets annoyed at all the kidnapping attempts where Phantom has to save him). So he goes to Maddie with his worries, and she takes it upon herself to make her baby a real butt-kicking ghost-hunter. Now Fenton can take care of himself, and even help Phantom every now and then. They make a good team

It's an AU, so Dani doesn't exist, cuz then she would be the only other halfa besides Vlad... and that would suck. Also, Vlad gets majorly pissed off when he finds out about the separation

Wardrobe change: Maddie and Jazz come to a consensus. While teenagers need to have some variety in clothing (and something considered more normal fashion), there is also nothing wrong with wearing a bit of protection underneath, hence the short-sleeved jumpsuits (only Fenton can afford fingerless gloves, cuz it would be bad if Phantom left fingerprints). And Fenton's shirt changes to blue, cuz, as Maddie says, he's gotta blend in more if he wants to be a good ghost-hunter (Jack doesn't count), and since most ghosts hunt at night, it has to be blue. At a later time Maddie will get to analyze Valerie's suit and apply the 'expanding suit' tech to the boys, but I haven't really gone into that so... yeah.

And that's that, for now.

P.S. Yes, Fenton's wearing a Specter Deflector, but it's a modified version that 'ignores' Phantom's DNA signature. Maddie did her job well when she equipped her son with ghost weaponry.
