I'm not too knowledgeable about the elements of photography by I know some basics. I really like what you have going on in this piece because the balance is what caught my attention to begin with. You have this up close and personal view of the plant and everything else is faded in the background. I also like the fact that you have white flowers in regards to any other choice of color because it makes all the other colors in the piece really pop out but still allowing the flowers to be the main focal point. Going on again about the balance I see the Rule of Thirds in high play here which really gives this photograph an edge. The lighting is another enjoyable aspect because it's just the right about to not over power what you have going on here, yet it doesn't lack in my opinion.

Compelling composition. Nice use of focus/bokeh. I like how the lines from the pedals are complemented by the background vertical stalks. I really like the cropping; the position of the main subject flower is most pleasing.

:] I've never personally messed around with Nikon's, but just reading up a little bit it seems like a pretty good deal. I think it kinda depends on the lenses.
