For those wondering WTF Kuma is doing in the centre image, it's the manly Scottish sport of caber tossing, although I don't think they usually have another person on top, to put it lightly. And why Canada and Kuma in the first place? Because they have the Highland games there too.

I love the gaint sized Kumajio. I once saw a comic that suggested Kumi was like that tiger from Calvin and Hobbs. [link] but I like idea of him being a regular polar bear just as much.
I love that England in with the cigerette something about him looks very soft yet stubborn.
And Sweden and babyAlfred. Just...D'awwww I've been looking into the New Sweden colony lately and this just puts the cherry on top.

Oh man, I remember seeing a headcanon like that. Having Kuma like a regular-sized bear would mean an amazing portable heater in winter though!
I like to think of that one as something related to that old Russia/England pic with Russia smoking near the window.

Well, there's The Great Game to begin with, along with their love of tea. It's a very interesting pairing that is sadly underrepresented in this fandom imo.

Apparently Swedish immigrants...let me see if I can find the quote because it blows my mind when I think of how America tends to have issues with immigrants:

The funny thing is I have yet to see cannon evidence that Finland returns Sweden's feelings. after reading a guidebook to Finland I doubt he would anyway.
And...well...America...people have their favorites but other then comical hinting, serious romantic pairings I don't think are really apart of cannon Hetalia. okay so Holy Rome and North Italy is cannon but they were kids it's not like they had enough time to get 'romantic' anyway.
It's usally the fans that sniff that stuff out, at least if they are based on some historical real world events it's believable. And on a side note I find the idea that (theoriticly) immortal creatures will only be in love with one person for all time. Much like regualar humans they probably have multiple relationships.

Well, there was that X'mas scene where Finland put up a good fight after Sweden was downed, but that's not necessarily romantic. from what I understand about their RL relations, there seems to be some complicated emotions involved
Given how I ship half the cast with each other, the notion of having OTPs isn't really my kind of thing (heck, given the choice, I'd settle for some good gen). More fun to go around and all that.

Alfred seems rather sweet on Sweden. Normally he'd ban the largest group of immigrants from doing things like he did with the Irish and Chinese. But no, he welcomed the Swedish. Must have fond memories or something...
That seems to be more friendship-ish to me. I should track that down.
It seems like while under Swedish rule Finland didn't advance very much and while under Russian rule he was allowed his own...*checks notes* "grandy duchy, senate and Diet of Four Estates" There is still a large Swedish speaking Finnish population and most Finns seem to hate Russia. For good reasons of course. But you'd think he'd lean more towards the one that actually let him develope his own government a little...
Gosh I love guide books. Timelines and national psyce summeries. I didn't know this but Finnish people seem to like their coffee...ALOT. Also sauna...didn't know I had been saying it wrong all these years
Personally I can go for any pairing, I might lean towards some more then others but like say in fanfiction, as long as it's properly set up I have no beef with a pairing. Some realationships I find intersting in a romantic sense and some in a friendship sense. Like the friendship that could be between Romano and Kiku but its hard to find things with those two or Ukraine and Sweden.

Somehow I have the impression it's going to be hard to decide on a victor for such a contest. Kuma (and Mattie for that matter) could probably out-drink Al easily though.

Depends on the point of view I suppose. Things were going pretty well between the two before russification set in, but the reason Finland was allowed autonomy in the first place was to prevent it from returning to Sweden afaik. In Hetalia terms, Russia being insane and known to hurt others (Finland probably had a front row seat in seeing that) as opposed to living with Sweden for centuries and being more used to him would make it understandable for Finland to be friendlier with Sweden. (for the record, I do like the Russia/Finland pairing as long as the latter isn't ukefied to Hell)
It seems that most northern countries are addicted to coffee. Given the dark winters, it's not that surprising.
