Playing around with another design.I do a lot of random designs like this that you all don't see and most of the time I find that there is an overall lack of consistency and flow, but I think this one is pretty cool. She looks like she should have a bag or something though. Also, I need to work on drawing thinner scarf fabrics, because every scarf or rag I do looks thick.

Oh maaaan, I'd love to see more of your designs that you aren't showing though-!!! Β I just dunno where you come up with so many awesome concepts and designs, like, seriously man I think that's pretty friggin' awesome!!! Β The cuts of clothing that you choose and the colors and details are all amazing... that hat's pretty rad too, hahaha, is that her hair coming out the top of it? Β xD Β

The ones that don't make it really aren't all that good. haha This one in particular I liked for it's consistency and how it came together overall. My designs are usually based around fashion and simply adding fantastical elements to it. I try to have an initial idea when I go in to the patterns. On her main outfit I was thinking water and flowers to combat the warm feel of the design. The scarf thing had simpler lines and shapes as to not have too much information on her clothes and to make her easier to redraw. And yeah, that's her hair through the hat. Ironically, i wish I never gave her the hat and instead had more of her hair showing or at least gave her a different hat.

Hahahah, ohhhh it's so cool to hear about how much thought goes into the designs though, it's still a lot of work!! Β The balance between overdetailing vs. simplification is always a tough one but I think you always do a great job!!! Β

Very nice!Β Love this whole look.Β The sheer/lacy detailing on the pants & top is such a nice touch and it's not over-done.Β The whole outfit has a really timeless feel to it also - I could imagine this in a fantasy setting or walking down the street in NYC.
I think if you want the scarf fabrics to look thinner/lighter they need to have less pronounced folds in areas where they're not being compressed by knots or other fabrics weighing them down?Β Thinner fabrics are gonna be more sheer, so it'll change how the shadows work on them also + how much color shows through them from whatever they're layered over.Β Thinner lines would be helpful also?Β It kind of depends on what you imagine the scarf being made out of - synthetic vs natural fibers fold differently.Β ...I meant to add like one small comment about scarves and then sat here for like 10 minutes considering the many challenges of rendering sheer or light weight fabric.Β GOOD LUCK.

Thanks! Modern fashion is an inspiration in most of my designs, so I'm glad that it translates. And the sheer in the pants and top are my favorite parts of the design. I try to aim for a bit of practicality, which is usually how I keep myself in check when i think I'm overdoing something.
And I appreciate you taking the time to give a thoughtful response to the part of my carption on scarves. Looking at how i rendered the them, i see what you mean about the shadows and line thickness. It looks like bigger folds bunched together, which implies thickness. I'll definitely remember this going forward. Thank you!!!!!
