Description Hi y'all.... Been a long time since I last posted. I have been very very busy with work.

Here's my latest work. Story behind is very sketchy. As far as the invistigation goes, the plane was hijacked. The crew espacially the pilot decided that it was better to fight off the hijackers which resulted to this catastrophe.

Done using Photoshop CS3 in about 12 hours for a web challenge.

Any Comments welcome.

Here is a desaturated ORIGINAL version :

I doubt the traffic in Buendia would be any different with or without that plane.

Great picture! My only critique would be that there's no way the front of the plane would be nearly so recognizable. In a crash like that the front end hits first and starts the impact crater.

I agree, had to add some artistic drama to it though lol!

I hate planes! Most of my family on my dads side lives right under where planes start to come down from the sky. I feel bad for them. But.....anyway nice job with the detail.

Wow, this is absolutely fantastic! Very strong image, and very subtle manips! The only thing that looks strange to me about the image is the lack of emergency response. If it is so early in the disaster that they haven't arrived, then I think there would be more fire at the site. This image is so dark that I think you could add some red and blue lights for a cool effect.

Lucky it didn't hit that gas station

whoa...... photo manip? hehe.... sorry for the question, it's just that i've seen so much of only one part of DA (drawing) that i'm facinated by other forms of art

frenic In reply to ragnarpendon [2008-06-18 04:59:12 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunatelly theres no mattepainting category... HAHA, so I'm categorized now as photomanipulation... maybe next time I'll post it under Digital painting...

It's weird how you manage to capture disaster. The contrast between the destruction and structure seems to be a recent theme that's emerging in your works. I'm seeing that when you tackle something like a disaster it's not just about the wreckage and ruin but it's about how society has it's structures that will stand for years and years after it's gone forever leaving a thumb print on the world. However the chaos of destruction sets up this great organic pattern that's reminding mankind that nature is still in control ultimately... ; just some thoughts

Hi, wow! Thats an amazing comment! I'll repost that in one of my journals one of these days including a link to your page if you don't mind...

Ironically, The theme on what I do is either dictated by work or by competitions... and funny thing is, it always involves destruction....

Oh well... I'm striving hard to create something peacefull right now and another piece that will involve nature taking over technology...

Thanks again!

i think it would make a more masive destruction but its very nice
i can see some blured parts wich ruin in for example the left wing make sharpen details in the blur parts and it will kick ass
also the sky doesnt matches that mutch it has a lot of saturation and not corect lighting wich make it somekind fake from realism
i dont know if you wanted this feedback but here you get it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

frenic In reply to Scott-Kane [2008-04-17 06:12:08 +0000 UTC]

Whoa! Sonkite giving me a comment! Totally cool! Thanks man! I really appreciate it!

The comments are well taken, to be honest I was meaning to add a few more details but time was my enemy ( I also got lazy...) The correct lighting would be the saturated one...

[link]

But I prefered this one since I was aiming for a surreal look...

Thanks again!

BlackTowerOfTime [2008-04-14 18:59:45 +0000 UTC]

great work.. and amazing you only need 12 hours for it.
the newer "saturated" version looks IMHO better even the colors look a bit unnatural bright compared with the desaturated original version. The sky in the older version looks to gray and depressing and match to well with the scene what make the thing over-natural real for the mind.
the left bottom corners building seems to have a wrong perspective in some way but I could wrong with that too. The twig in front put a nice extra touch to the picture. It makes like someone look down from his balcony or roof-garden

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

frenic In reply to BlackTowerOfTime [2008-04-14 19:04:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the kind words... Yes the perspective at the lower left is kinda weird due to the paralax that was left after the Image resizing (two images). But the shapes was based off from an orginal building replaced with that new one since it was a bit boring.

And wow! You noticed that twig huh? I purposelly left that there to give a sense of tribute to the tragedy... Cool!
