The angular lighting really adds tension. That along with the DOF really make it look like there's this intense standoff between the black and white pieces. Really well done.

This is a lovely shot... great light and lovely composition. I have a shot of somethign chess related that's being developed. Hoping it will come out well. It was a bit dark unfortunately and I couldn't get my tripod at the time. (hate redorations, they always cut me off from stuff just when I need them.
