Description
I'm delighted to let you all know that I passed my driving test on 9th March 2006 after six attempts.Though I stopped taking lessons from my instructor after failing my fifth test, it was him who taught me how to drive in the first place. I had to say thank you to him somehow, so I drew up a thank you card for him to show my appreciation.
I had sat my first five tests in Dundee itself, but sat my sixth and last in Arbroath using my dad's car. It feels great now that I never have to do any of these tests again, and I have a newfound respect for driving examiners - it's a difficult and sometimes risky job! Theoretically I am still learning new things, and I look forward to enjoying my driving in future.

Heh, heh...
I've probably past a bit before, but it's also a long time since I drove - practically everything we need is right here in town.
I recently sold my car on account that the insurance and tax-disc were far higher than I was getting on JSA this year... anyway, it was a bit big for my simple needs.
My current bank balance has never looked more healthy this year...

I wish we had those Vauxhalls in the states, nice cars they are.

The Mk5 Vauxhall Astra (like what I currently drive) was badged as Opels in Europe and as Saturns in the States ^.^

Huh, well if I ever get a new used car I may buy one. I like compact hatches.
Unfortunately I don't think we got the diesel, I'd rather have that than these hybrids or sport models.

I don't have that car anymore, I have an Astra now. The Corsa was perfectly alright - it did 45mpg, which satisfied me plenty.

CONGRATS!!!!
Yeah, I had a hard time passing my license test at 16. I was learning in my dad's Jeep Cherokee, which was a FAIL. I took my mom's Oldsmobile Calais and aced the test. (AH, nostalgia! I can't believe that was 11 years ago. o.o)
I think you did a REALLY good job on the car! GM pride! *hi-fives*
...relatedly, too bad we don't have the Corsa here in the states. It's a cute car. We *are* getting the Astra, although it'll be badged a Saturn. If I totalled my Alero, I'd definitely pick the Astra to replace it. ^.^

The Astra will do well in the States even with the Saturn badge It's been nearly 19 months since passing my test now - 5 more months and I'll have even cheaper insurance premiums

Hey there dude. Long time, not speak. Hehe. I was wondering what happened to ya, so I checked by the site. Turns out most of my favorites list had been checked off so it didn't show any of my favorite updates. That why I haven't heard from ya in while ;.
But anyway congrats on the driving test! Man I know what you've been through, took me four tries till I got my lisence and was a HUGE relief when I finally passed that infernal. Plus I also own my passing to my teacher as well, he was a HUGE help. Giving me an easier way to study it then having the headache of trying to understand the manual (which was the reason why I was failing it.) So here to ya and your new experiences on the road. THough alway remember the important rule: Buckle up! ;D

Thanks a lot mate! The UK driving test is (sometimes unfairly) difficult, so I'm pleased I finally earned to pass. That wee car does well on it's fuel economy too, and I'm proud to be driving it

Ah, there's something I have to do sometime. I'll be eighteen in a few months and I haven't even got my beginners yet XD Sad.
Anyway, about the pic. It's very well drawn, all of it. The detailing in the car is quite impressive! The colouring and shading are well done, too. Very nice <^^> And congrats on getting all that over and done with.

A Corsa? Oh come now, if you are gunna drive a Vauxhall get yourself a VX200... and by get, I mean steal ;D You're a Fox, Be sneaky :3
Congrats man :3 I am sure the UK is far stricter since here in the US im sure in some states you can get your licence at a damn news stand. I mean, evrey time I drive, I almost get killed by evreyone else on the road.

FreyFox In reply to Lanikin [2006-03-14 23:44:57 +0000 UTC]
There's no way I could get myself insured for a VX220 - too expensive! Like my dad's Vauxhall Vectra Vixens love a Corsa - it's a trendy shaggin' wagon!
Okay I'll shut up now.
I do agree about the USA - they are far too lenient (though I'd be envying you all had I still not passed yet), plus you don't drive REAL cars - you don't know real till you use a Manual gearbox

Lanikin In reply to FreyFox [2006-03-15 20:11:41 +0000 UTC]
And the Lady wolves love a 300ZX ;D
When you drive a car thats older than you are, you know all about the manual gearbox <3 I much prefet the clutch over suprise shifts of an automatic gearbox.
Id love to get a Vauxhall/Opel/Holden (they are all the same! ) Either a Monaro or a VX/Speedster... yess... Cant get anything like that in the states X_x

FreyFox In reply to Lanikin [2006-03-15 23:58:29 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, most new cars in the UK come with manual gearboxes anyway, though there are a fair amount of automatics on the road too

Congrats on the license, er, licence. If at first you don't succeed, try try again. You did, and it paid off!
Just wondering...did you know that you have a GM car? The British Vauxhall is as American as my mom's Buick (which is built in Canada). Just a random factoid to chew on.
