Jolie finally begins to slow to a stop as she can no longer feel her legs. Her lungs burn and as she looks down she notices a strong shake in her body. She desperately tries to steady herself, wheezing with every breath. Where am I? How long was I running? She eventually lifts her head despite how heavy it feels, it’s morning… Her eyes rest on the pink laden horizon. Rolling hills of dry grass replaced with shrubs, dust and sand. All covered in a wave of pink, orange and yellow as the sun began to rise. Jolie feels the beams of sunlight dig underneath her coat and warm her aching muscles and bones. Years of exhaustion, abuse and pain seem to melt away in that moment. Jolie takes a deep breath and closes her eyes, lowering her head once more.

She listens to the sparse sounds of birds singing above. She hears the skittering steps of a frightened lizard in some nearby bush. The desert breeze shutters between the branches of shrubbery, kicking up a few pebbles that then click against her hooves. I’m actually here…I escaped. She becomes increasingly aware of the nagging, digging leather and metal strapped to her head. Now…I just have to find a way to get rid of this damned torture device…
