Just a look at some of the Pokedex entries shows clearly, that the pokemon games are not for kids.What the pokedex entries tell about parasect:
"The parasite mushroom has taken over the host bug."
"The bug host is drained of energy by the mushrooms on its back. They appear to do all the thinking. "
"It stays mostly in dark, damp places, the preference not of the bug, but of the big mushrooms on its back. "
"When nothing's left to extract from the bug, the mushrooms on its back leave spores on the bug's egg. "
Wonderful isn't it? Imagine a ten years old rookie trainer, who decides to evolve his lively and cute paras in orded to get a gym badge. Only afterwards the trainer realizes, that his beloved partner has been zombified by the mushroom on its back, and the pokemon only responds to food and straight battle commands anymore.
I don't own pokemon.

Had a Paras named Splore (like explore, and spore, not clever, I know), but when he evolved into Parasect, I renamed him Zombie. A painful reminder of his new state. R.I.P. Splore. ;~;

The interesting thing about him is that he is not actually possessed by the virus. He was separated by a storm early from his family and because the virus is no longer getting sprayed the spores (Which he in my Head Cannon to grow and become stronger needs), and thus the body could not take. This manifests itself externally as well as in fighting richen skills. His fungus is significantly smaller than the other Parasect, and still has his pupils. The disadvantage is (yes I will not create a Gary stue xD) is primarily the Powder his attacks are much weaker than that of others, that is, he had need three times the amount erziehlen to the same result.

Doubtful. It's heavily implied that the fungus cares only for its reproductive success and lust for power. It's evil I tell you.
