Description I recently bought some Kood close-up filters for my camera and have been experimenting by photographing various inanimate objects as well as the two cats (who are very patient putting up with me shoving the camera in their faces without grumbling). Trying different focal points and apertures to get a feel.

I've plenty of shots that don't work, but this is one of the ones that does I think! The focus is on his nose/mouth in this one rather than his eye and you get the focus blur build along the whiskers.

Cool - he's lovely! His face is a bit more classical aby than my Simba (my Simba's face is a bit boxy for the breed). The kitten pictures in particular bring back fond memories of when mine was a youngster: [link]

Your Simba looks a little like my Simba's half-brother in your "Light Bug" photo. Simba's half-brother lives with a family member and is a red Abby named Cayenne. I call him "the Pink Panther" because he looks like the cartoon character.

I love that photo you linked to.

Beautiful cat! The focus is very well done, and creatively so as well, with it on his nose rather than his eye. Very well done.

What breed is he? I have a few ideas, but I'd love to know.

Thank you . He's an Abyssinian (with a "usual" or "ruddy" coat). His face is relatively boxy for the breed - his big boxy head (along with big paws) did make him look a little bit like a lion cub when he was a kitten hence the name a friend suggested I give him!
