Description An idea I had a few years ago, to copy from one of umpteen sites about the net the first couple hundred digits of pi and replace each digit in turn with a colored block, thus making an irrational number, an element in mathematics, a truly artistic entity as well. Sorry for the long sentence, but that's how it came out .

How long did it take you to do this?

About five minutes actually; I copied the first couple thousand digits from one of 3.14 million sites listing the digits and pasted them in a Microsoft Word Document. I then replaced each digit with a colored box obtained from the Symbol Menu. Lather, rinse, repeat ten times and viola . I would love to have larger-scale, professional resources to create a large poster incorporating even more digits to show an even crazier pattern.

That's the wacky and wild thing about doing this: vary the font size and the aspect ratio (vertical to horizontal, sorry if you already knew that) and you obtain ever-changing patterns, much like those evident in the incessant decimal digits of pi.

Very cool. I showed that to my brother and told him that I totally had to get a full-sized poster so I could hang it in my room. i would love that!

I really would like to know where I could have something like that done because I think it would look extremely cool that big. And, in a new size the colored squares would line up differently and be a different design. It would be great to be able to sell it and see it on the wall .

Definitly! If you ever do find a way to get that done, you so have to tell me! ^^
