8) Thanks a furry bunch for the comments on my Demetrius series. I'm extremely happy about how the drawings came out and I just love everything about him: his paws, his happy face, his goodly adornment with bracelets, anklets, rings, hair beads, knee patches and anything else I could have him wear. I've been ridden with anxiety since about if I could ever come up with something I'll feel as good about again.

Aww, I know how that feels, but trust me, you'll come up with other things just as great. I've got at least five different worlds in my head and they're all equally awesome. I'm scared that I''ll never stop imagening things. I don't have time to do things with all of them... Hee.
And I like the name Demetrius by the way. It's a good name.

I feel we both are going through the same creative phases. I am authentically concerned about my raging mind and that everything it comes up with may not be realized, dozens of ideas already queued up one behind the other. I'm glad you think I'll make something as good as Demetrius, but since one naturally is his own worst critic, I myself can never be sure. Thanks too for liking his name. I think in a small way names like those represent some of the things I like - the uncommon, the interesting and the unusual.

I'm pretty sure everybody who creates anything feel that way. Both the fear that they won't get another great idea and the fear that they won't have time for the ones they have. That's just the way it's supposed to be, if we could control it, then it wouldn't be half as much fun. Or half the hard work, but that's kinda fun too.
As for names. I just adore a good name. I practically collect them. I find so many that I've named half of one of my friend's characters by now, and I still find more everywhere. I don't even bother to try to make names up anymore, I never was good at that anyway. Haha.
I named my laptop too. After one of my characters actually. It amused me.
But that name you have there. It's good. It's unusual, but in a natural way. A good choice.

Many thanks dood 8). I treasure unique names and use them for characters in my stories all the time. If there's an option, I'll always choose the offbeat path .

That's great. My personal addiction is normal sounding names for weird looking critters. I've got a big orange gryphon-beast with 6 "arms" instead of wings. You'd think he would have a fantasy-ish name, but no, I called him Jonathan.
I've got loads of other examples like that. But I secretly loves weird names. They're great. I just don't use them much myself anymore for some odd reason.

The former, assigning traditional names to decidedly oddball beasts might arise from the attraction to the clash between one idea and its opposite or simply from doing the unexpected.
Random question: do you have AIM?

I think I do it because it's fun to do little unexpected things like that. And perhaps an attempt to ground my weirder ideas a bit, a sort of "it may be a world where big meta-beings walk around and bends reality, but at least people have normal names like Bob and Simon, so it's really not that bad."
And yes, I do, it's Insanityburning if I remember correctly.

Doing the unexpected is always fun . Keeps people on their toes.

It does, it does. One day I'll make a comic just so I can keep surprising people with unexpected things. Some day.
