Description From the tag: "This cat and rat lived in Egypt over 2,000 years ago! Mummified in Bitumen Resin, these animals lived a life of luxury in the royal temple at Bubastis, the city devoted to Bast, the Cat Goddess of Pleasure, dancing and Music. Worshippers invoked Basty to protect them from contagious diseases, and anyone caught killing a cat even accidentally, was instantly put to death."

If you get nightmares, just remember: they were once like any other cat or rat, only they're still here .

It's in the Ripley's Odditorium in Orlando, Florida. It's a wicked thing to think about how the ancient Egyptians went about that process and that it's real animals in there. If you like creepy things, check out the rest of the "Beyond Bizarre" folder .

Hello fellow strange guy ! If there's one thing I've noticed over the years, it's that I seem subconsciously bent on refusing to do what the majority does and being that one square peg. Ever feel like that? Oh, and you're welcome on that fave - there will be more .

Also, skulls? Real? Cool...cow, deer, cat, bear?

Arthur? Any particular reason? And where in heaven's name do you get such a thing? Off the street or in a poker game?

I was just wondering where you got a human skull and how it became named Arthur. It's not something I hear every day .

The ancient Egyptians worshipped cats like no one's business and so it fully stands to reason that if they would take such elaborate care to preserve royalty, they would take such steps to preserve what they viewed as gods in feline form.

I'll never forget a T-shirt I saw some years ago: Ancient Egyptians worshipped cats as gods. They have never forgotten this.
