Development bonus: Drakon is finally achieving a dream of his to do more for Serora by becoming a peacemaker
He had long wished for more. To do more- to be more. He had once been a fury, but had longed to have a quieter impact, one with less direct violence. A closer connection to the herd's interior and possibly end up helping to make decisions as well. The pegasus hadn't wanted to just be a fury, and a warder allowed him a step towards what he desired. But now, ten years into it, he felt he could still do more.
He constantly strived to become something better. With the end of the war, Drakon knew change was coming. They had a change in sultan, and that was only the first step. A treaty was made- one that many weren't completely satisfied with (Drakon included). Jibriel would need help in the future to guide the herd into something they could all be proud of.
When Drakon got the chance to travel with Jibriel and Isleen to meet a group from the Flight and the Rogue's to negotiate terms- he was hopeful. He maintained his duty in protecting the Sultan, but he was also able to contribute his own thoughts. Jibriel even looked to the two of them for insight, and the pegasus appreciated it. Serora would become stronger by listening to the thoughts of the public. But when there was mention of an ambassador exchange- well he wasn't expecting that. It made his heart quicken, and without knowing it, Drakon knew it was what he wanted to do.
Drakon had just wanted to help Serora. He could do that through the council, but being a peacemaker? That also felt right. So, so right.
They continued their discussion with the members from the Flight and Rogue Alliance, laying out further details and finalizing points of interest. All the while, Drakon couldn't help but keep thinking about being a peacemaker. There were so many reasons why he would like to go with the horses in front of them.
After the meeting, Drakon sought out Jibriel. He wanted his Sultan to know his desires- to hear his request. He spoke of bettering Serora- which was his largest wish. He also had experience with those from Talori (sure, it might just be a couple of horses, but it still counted). He felt that he knew what Talori and those who defected from it might be thinking more than others. It wouldn't be as much of a shock for him to go like it might be for another. He also knew of the Flight. He had heard of them when they had still been small; had heard their plight. Drakon explained that after being a warder for ten years, he felt that he understood the political spectrum of Serora a bit more as well. He was always behind the scenes, but he could pick up what was going on, and he even learned things along the way.
The pegasus felt that he would be capable of navigating the politics that would come with being a peacemaker. He didn't want to sound haughty or as if he was better than other candidates, but he wanted this job. He wanted to show what he could do and help Serora in ways another couldn't. Drakon could only hope that Jibriel would consider his request and see that it was a good idea as well.

A little at a time
I feel more alive
I let the scale tip and feel all of it
Itβs uncomfortable but right
We were born to try
To see each other through
To know and love ourselves and others well
Is the most difficult and meaningful
Work weβll ever do
Nine by Sleeping At Last
Rank change for Drakon! He will now be a Peacemaker for the Flight
Apparently I'm just deciding to draw the same pose over and over and over again
